The field of pediatrics is diverse and challenging. During my clerkship rotations, I admired the amount of knowledge and level of understanding required by the attending physicians to accurately diagnose and treat patients. From the well-child visit to the pediatric ICU, I am constantly impressed by the breadth and depth of pediatrics. As a lifelong student, I have always enjoyed learning and find the intellectual challenge of treating children from infancy to adolescence, both healthy and sick, very gratifying. It is with great excitement that I look forward to continually advancing my knowledge of the vast and intricate field of pediatric medicine.

Through diverse teaching experiences, I have developed strong communication skills. As an undergraduate, I taught medical sciences to fellow students as a Supplemental Instructor. I later taught medical sciences to 7th and 8th grade students at a summer studies program. Although the two groups were vastly different in age and educational background, I was able to make much of the same information accessible to both. As a pediatrician, I will be communicating complex medical information to many different groups, which is a skill that I am actively trying to master. For these reasons, I believe my adaptable communication skills will be an asset that enhances my ability to connect with patients, their families, and my peers in the medical
