Pema Gordon's 'Inner Peace Within'
Peace Within Pema Gordon once said,” Inner peace begins the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions”. Inner peace is a state of being mentally and spiritually at peace, with enough knowledge and understanding to keep oneself strong in the face of discord or stress. There are many ways we can find inner peace, for some it may be harder than others. Not letting others control the way we live our lives is a step to finding inner peace. Initially, remove all the negatives we have in our daily thoughts. Most importantly, do it for you and make yourself happy. Do you ever feel like you’re a robot? Constantly being controlled and can’t make your own decisions? Being that we should be in charge of how we want to feel each and every day. We shouldn’t let places, events or people control the way we live. We shouldn’t let people break us down physically, mentally, or emotionally. Once we find what makes us happy, we can grasp that and continue to feel happy. We should make our own happiness no matter the situation. From experience trying to find happiness in the worst situation was a difficult task for me. I’ve learned to focus on what makes me happy. Most of the time I targeted the negative things. Soon or later no matter how happy we are the negative things will catch up. Sometimes making the decision to be happy will not be easy. We might have to make decisions we don’t want to make or give up something we love. I’ve learned to ask myself, “Am I genuinely happy doing the activities I love”? In that case, I catch myself doing things I love but not exactly being happy. It seems to me the purpose of life is to keep the things that make us happy.
