The job of a producer is not easy, there are many logistics,finances and decisions to be made. A few months back, I worked with a team of producers for a short film. We had to take a decision on whether to work with a small crew or to find funds to cover the cost of transportation, food, actors, etc. All the students working on this project, did want to find other solutions because “it was going to be hard to find the funds.”I decided to work on my own and start a kickstarter campaign and write letters to different companies and people to ask for donations. This was an example of how I used critical thinking and decision making in order to solve this situation. As a started my journey through college, I saw myself having a disadvantage because I was from another country. Everything seemed hard and I had to work ten times harder than other students. Now, I see that being from another country gives me another perspective on how I approach different situations. I can take advantage of my own experiences such as, adapting to a new culture, and write interesting and powerful pieces of writing. Being from another country is not a disadvantage, it is an advantage.
As I move on through college and into a professional career in film, I will take advantage of my own cultural differences, experiences, and achieve my goals. As I move closer to my goal, I can now say that being persistent has helped me overcome the challenges of being an international student. Now I know that I can be more confident when writing a film related project and other piece of
