Religion is a controversial topic, there are so many different varieties of beliefs and philosophies. Throughout the documentary titled, Holy Ghost – Documentary on Apalachian Pentacostal Snake, we are exposed to a Christian belief of ceremonial handling of poisonous snakes. Members of this religious group seek the Lord for guidance and also in order to receive the Holy Ghost. There is not one person in charge of their meetings. The group leader is often established among the members after arrival. They believe in everyone participating in the prayer and worshiping of the Lord in spirit and in truth. Once a service is started everyone partakes in thanking the Lord and addressing what he or she needs. After prayer the group joins together in song.…
Rosie was the proud owner of an Eastern Box Turtle! Excitement radiated from her as she read through the Wikipedia pages and turtle forums I had found. She could not believe how much there was to learn about the baby turtle she had found in her backyard. After an hour of passionate debate on the diet of the Eastern Box Turtle, she left the lab to brag about what she had learned. I had come to the senior center expecting to teach some lethargic retirees how to create email accounts, but I left reminded of the unbridled joy that comes from learning and teaching. As I have progressed through high school I have used Rosie’s infectious energy as inspiration in my life. Her enthusiasm has pushed me to go past the curriculum and share my passions…

Hello I am Kiowa’s lieutenant from the Alpha Company, I would like to give some background information about me to you guys. I am a sophomore in college and I had joined up for the Reserve Officer Training Corps because it was worth a few credits and few of my friends had joined, making me want to join. In all honesty I do not care about this war and I have no desire on becoming a team leader but I have ended up as the leader of Kiowa and his friends. I am insecure about the decisions I would make, leading me to make two of my soldier’s death. The first death would be a soldier named Ted Lavender. Instead of focusing on my men I focus on a girl who I deeply love and the fact that I care more about my love more than my men makes me and unworthy…
In the story “Along the Snake Fence Way”, the Narrator (who was not named) was asked by Gordy Bateson, the local dropout, to go snake bashing. I fell back on the mulch, full of tears, wishing that I'd never existed. The whole world was spinning. I felt like sinking deep into the grounds of the earth, and never returning. I thought I was ordinary. I did ordinary things an ordinary kid would do. But maybe not to them... The two vicious cobras hissed and snatched at me. Their venom sunk into me like a needle; It hurt. It stung . I couldn't hold the tears back anymore. Those two cobras changed my life. It was recess time, and I was playing on the playground like any other kid would do. Then came the cobras, slithering towards me like I was the prey; the tiny little mouse that had no strength. "You're a maid," they exclaimed. "You don't belong here!" The two pushed me down, my body landing…

When I moved from the eastside to the westside of Dearborn in 2006, I felt distraught. I barely knew anyone that went to Bryant Middle School. I wanted to return home and talk to my friends that went to Woodworth Middle School, in East Dearborn. To comfort me with a pet, my brothers took me along with them to the Dearborn Animal Shelter. We combed through several cages containing cats; we saw an adorable three-legged cat, a beautiful calico cat, and some cute white kittens. We then came upon a cage containing a small white and black cat named Ring Leader. Ring Leader was 5 months old at the time. He was lightly shedding, climbing over the shelter worker, and feverishly looking around. Ring Leader seemed like an energetic and fun cat, so I chose…

There has been many cases in which I have helped an outsider feel welcome. One time in particular is when I played tag with this little boy at church since he was new and no one else played with him. Originally, I was outside eating candy and talking to my friends at church. I noticed that this little boy was standing all alone watching all the other little kids play without him. I thought that maybe he was upset so I went over to him and asked if he wanted the rest of my gummy worms. He seemed nervous at first, but eventually he started talking to me. I learned that he was five years old and he was visiting his grandparents for the weekend. His older brother was outside playing basketball with some of the other older boys at the church, and…
Does moving to a new place change everything you ever experience? Moving to a whole new descriptive place is like being pop out of your mothers belly again. Especially, when you move to a place where the language, the food, the people, school and everything else is brand new. Those type of situations, shape your way of living in a constructive way that will affect the rest of your lifestyle. That's the same situation that made me have a life change into a whole new story. The option was to leave her lifestyle, her family and leave a part of her own blood made from her flesh. The own blood was me, leaving me with my grandma so she could had gone to find a job and start a new journey. To have a way to support the her baby and her own family. Departing to the U.S.A when I was only one years old. Until a sudden burdens of death that was going to make my whole story, lifestyle, my whole childhood and the rest of my life changed.…
As you stated in our assignment, “There are moments in time which you will never forget. There are collective moments which impact and affect us as a nation … then there are much smaller moments which shape us much individually.” Usually I would be the one to explain a dramatic moment, more so an obvious moment in time which shaped me as an individual. However, this time I would like to explain a very minor moment, finally getting my tattoo. This may not seem like a moment that could have even shaped me in an individual way, other than physically, it oddly has though. I had been waiting for this moment since my 18th birthday back in September, sadly for me, my father kept putting it off, because it was supposed to be my birthday gift from him.…
