Annemarie and Ellen Reunite!
The war ended two years later and Annemarie was twelve years old. Ellen
was still in Sweden, waiting to see They were planning on seeing each
other again soon. Annemarie and Ellen’s parents were planning a surprise for
both of the girls to reunite with each other..
Annemarie was sitting on the couch that morning while her mom was making
breakfast. Kirsti was playing on the floor with her dolls. Mama called them in
the kitchen for breakfast. Kirsti asked mama “After I’m done with breakfast,
may I go outside?” Mama replied “Yes Kirsti” as she was walking to the dining
table to have a cup of coffee. A few minutes after they sat down, Mr. Johansen

Annemarie asked him “Dad, When will we see the Rosen’s again? “Soon” said
dad with a smile. Annemarie looked at Kirsti who was playing with her dolls on
the couch. Kirsti asked if she could go outside and both parents said yes. The
next day, the Johansen’s went to the park. Kirsti brought her dolls with her.
Mr. and Mrs. Johansen brought some snacks for them to eat while they were
there. Mama was looking at birds, and Annemarie was running around in the
grass. Annemarie was getting tired running around so she sat down by her
mother. As Annemarie was sitting down, she asked her mom if she could have
a snack. Mama handed Annemarie a granola bar. As Annemarie was eating it,
she looked at the Star of David necklace she was wearing that was Ellen’s.
She was about to ask mama when they would see her again, but she knew
they were going to see them someday and that they were planning it. About
an hour later, they left the park. When they got home, they sat at the dining

the park. Annemarie asked her mom when the Rosen’s would meet them at
the park. Mama said they should be there in about 20 minutes Annemarie got
more excited. A little while later, Annemarie recognized a girl not very far away.
It was Ellen! Annemarie screamed Ellen’s name and ran as fast as she could
toward her, Ellen screamed Annemarie’s name and started running too. A few
seconds later, they ran into each other, almost knocking each other down.
Annemarie and Ellen hugged each other and a few seconds later, Kirsti came
and hugged Ellen, too. A few hours later, both families went out to dinner.
After they ate, Annemarie remembered something, “Ellen, I have something
for you.” Annemarie said. Ellen looked at Annemarie. Annemarie took the
necklace off of her neck and gave it to Ellen. Ellen smiled and said “ Where
did you hid it? “I hid it in Lise's dress” Annemarie said. “I’ve been wearing it
ever since the war ended.” Ellen smiled as she put the necklace on.
