Personal Narrative Essay On The Day I Break My Arm
It was a great day to break my arm. The accident happened right after I made the best choice of my life to jump off a tree into the water. Instead of caring about what could happen to myself, I thought it was the best decision.
When I was about 8 years old, my family and I went up north to our cabin up in Antigo, Wisconsin. It was a nice sunny day, and that morning I remember waking up and going out for breakfast. When we came back from breakfast, we took our speed boat out onto the lake and went to the island, which is on the other side of the lake.
My dad drove our speed boat out to the island and we stayed there for the majority of our day and started swimming around the island because it was all sand. I saw a tall skinny tree and decided

We got to the doctor's office and my mom told them that we needed an X-ray. The person told us to fill out some information and they would call us when they were ready.
The doctor called my name, so I got out of my chair in the waiting room and walked through the door into the back. I was shivering and nervous walking down the hall. I saw this giant machine, and I was wondering to myself, is my arm really broken. The doctor told me to put a sling over my body.
I asked “why”
The doctor responded back saying “ It protects the shock from the machine affecting your body.”
I mumbled back “ok” I laid down on a bed, they pulled the machine over me, and I heard a click sound. I got off the bed and they said wait here and the doctor left the room and came back ten minutes later. The doctor came back and said my arm was broken. The doctor casted me up there and I left the hospital leaving my arm in a cast.
Overall instead of having a great vacation, I was leaving the cabin not knowing my arm was broken. Going to get an X-ray at the hospital to find out my arm was broken wasn't very fun. Getting a cast on my arm is not very fun and will probably be the last time I will be jumping off a

After that, they stitched up my leg. They thought about stitching my hand, but they decided not to. While they stitched up my leg I watched and asked questions. At first, the doctor did not want to tell me anything because he did not want to scare me, but my dad told him it was alright. Even my dad was too scared to watch what they were doing to me, but I watched the whole thing. I had a total of 11 stitches; seven stitches were internal and five were external.…

I had a neck brace around my neck and IV’s stuck all in my arms. I started to panic, I was lost, confused and scared. My best friend was there in the ambulance trying to calm me down. But still, all I could think about was the reaction of my parents when they found out what happened. Once we got to the hospital, the paramedics took me to Emergency Care. The doctors ran many tests on me: MRI’s, CAT Scans, and X-Rays, whatever test you can name – they ran on me. As I waited for my results, the doctors came in and explained to me what happened. An intoxicated driver with a gun ran the red light and hit me in a head on collision. The driver not only totaled my mother’s car but also totaled his own car too. The good thing was that he was okay. I didn’t know what to be happier about; the fact that the other driver was fine or that the accident was not my fault. Selfish right? But I’m sure if you were me at the time, you would think the same thing.…

Once they got me to Children’s Medical Center in Dallas, I was being brought in for x-rays. My surgeon, Dr. Rathjen had…

The first time in my life that I ever experienced true anger and fear was in the sixth grade. A little before Thanksgiving Break, I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a type of skin cancer, in my lower back. I had a mole there that was removed earlier that year, and the test results on it had come back positive. I did not find out until later, but when my mom sat me down across from her to talk, I knew something was wrong. It was then that she told me what was going on, and I broke down in tears. I had never experienced fear such as I did then.…

A Story About a Broken Arm

When I was 7, I had short bright blonde hair and intent little blues eyes. I was tall for my age, so naturally athletic. I loved to bike, play soccer, play baseball, and do anything else that involved physical activity. I was also a bit of a smartass, always trying to correct my superiors when I believed them to be wrong. The combination of these two factors could get me in trouble. One time at this age my friend dared me to moon 7th grade baseball team to distract them. I took up his challenge, of course– while simultaneously combining my love for baseball with my love for being a smartass (a literal smart-ass in this example.) I pulled down my pants and exposed my butt to an outfielder, distracting him from the task at hand and making him miss a ball that had been hit in his direction. On another occasion my friend’s cousin turned the light off in the attic while my friend, his brother, and I were all up there. I, being afraid of the dark, told my friend I was just going to jump for it down the stairs. My friend’s brother told me not to do it or I’d end up hurting myself. I didn’t listen to him, and instead I just jumped down the wooden stairs, hitting and scraping my butt on the way down. My tailbone was bruised for weeks after that.…

Seeing I know you are reading this, curious as to what went wrong, here is a brief description of the blunder. After a supposedly successful operation in Galway, when I got my cast off, my arm was set the wrong way around. I was then operated on in Crumlin, which involved the re-breaking of my arm, and in doing so, they cut one of the main nerves in my arm which left my right arm powerless from the shoulder down. Special Surgeons were flown in from neighbouring hospitals and after several hours operation, I eventually regained consciousness and was back lying in the hospital bed. I was up and down, and in and out of Crumlin Hospital for many years later and yet to this day , I strongly believe it was faith that got me through the horrifying ordeal.…

Early in our trip to the Mason City hospital, I talked to my mom on the phone. I felt extremely bad for my mom because I knew that her worst nightmare was that I get seriously injured. I told her on the phone that I was okay and that it didn’t hurt at all, doing my best to calm her down. The EMT that was in the back with my dad and I put in the IV needle and started giving me pain killers. My head felt glued to the stretcher. I just laid perfectly still and felt my body relax. My only job was to tell the EMT if I could feel him pinching my toes, which was slowly getting lighter and lighter. Once the ambulance arrived at the hospital everything happened in the blink of an eye. I was pushed along to the ER where I met my mom and the rest of my family. The reunion was short lived, because soon after I arrived, a doctor kicked them all out and popped my ankle back into place. The pain came as a shock, but the medicine quickly took over and soon I was painless again. They wrapped my ankle up to prevent motion and rolled me into a room to stay the night. Bright and early the next morning the nurses woke me up and prepared me for surgery. I was exhausted and did my best to follow their directions, but as soon as I hit the operating table, I was out. I opened my eyes and I was back in the room I spent the night in. I fell in and out of sleep for the next couple of hours until I was fully recovered. The nurses brought me some crutches and told me I was good to leave. I was amazed at how they were just going to let me go, but I did not hesitate to get out of…
