Personal Narrative: I Believe In Cold Trailers
I believe in cold showers. I believe that under the fear of being in a cold shower, comes a better person that can be more fearless to life’s daily occurrences. I believe in shuddering so much that our body starts to freeze. I believe that even after a long day of running around and completing a daily routine, most can be re-energized knowing behind those shower curtains leads a way to perk a person up better than coffee ever will. A relentless storm above me with a drain below my feet, they both work together to beat my confidence into submission. Even after my struggle against the icy line of fire, I’m still brought to my knees as when I open up that shower curtain I’m exposing myself to the freezing and unbearable air that takes over the bathroom’s hypothermic chamber. …show more content…
That every dread that has been hanging over me will be swiped away with power. That I can assure my day will be one to remember. Even after hard workouts that can leave myself sore for the rest of the week, can be sorted out in fifteen minutes hardening my muscles to be even stronger. I believe that uncovering yourself to the horrors of a cold shower may be a bit frightening. How some don’t want that chilling feeling of the cold waters of Antarctica running down our backs and would much rather have the nice, smooth feeling of steam moving throughout the room. I used to be like that and now I realized how much of a waste it is. Cold showers have many benefits; for example, it tightens pores so acne isn’t a rampant as it would be with warmer showers. It can also have health benefits like improving our immune system to help fight

Ian Frazier is popular American satirist. One of his articles posted in “The New Yorker” called “How to operate the shower curtain”. In this article he talks about how to use the simplest thing we could imagine, the shower curtain. The way he describes its use is very ironic and funny, explaining in every detail possible. He says, “Remember to keep the shower curtain inside the tub at all times!” as if showering was an extremely dangerous activity where you have to follow step-by-step instructions (Frazier 1). Not only does he talk about the curtain itself, but also objects associated with showering such as shampoo bottles or even activities you have to perform…

It’s a Tuesday. I’m finishing my workout at my neighborhood gym. I walk into the locker room, throw my clothes off, and head to the showers. The water is warm. I’m feeling like a real go-getter. The endorphins, the steam – it’s relaxing. Veeery relaxing. I take a handful of the shower gel that the gym supplies in buckets and start lathering up. I’m making sure things are clean down there. Really, really clean. (Not really, readers – I’m jerking off. Duh.)…

I walked on a thin layer of ice in high school; every time someone judged me, I could hear the ice slowly cracking under my feet. My life was in a fragile and brittle state during my junior year. I didn’t have the support of my parents, nor of my closest friends at this stage of my life. My own parents, teachers, and classmates had lost faith in me; to them it seemed as if I had ruined my life and that I would no longer succeed. On the contrary, I was determined to be successful because now I had someone special looking up at me as their role model.…

A hill of aspens, glowing golden, shines on the right side of the trail while the left side is a pine-covered hill. Between the two is the trail, a magical escape from reality. This is my sanctuary of Buffalo Peaks wilderness. The trying experience of hiking through the mountains with 40 pounds on your back, the straps of your pack rubbing the skin off your hips and shoulders. The tension building in your muscles as you struggle under the weight. The pain that can only be diluted by a yoga session and a trip to the hot springs. Sun salutations in a lush, meadow valley. Warrior one and reverse warrior in the heat of the sun, relaxing from the miles we traveled just the day before.…

This past year I saved enough money to purchase my first livestock trailer. It is a bumper hitch trailer that can carry up to four beef animals. It is by no means fancy or new, but it works great when taking animals to county fairs, clinics, vet appointments, and other events. When traveling longer distances I have to support of many other beef producers if I choose not to use my own trailer (Not that my trailer could not transport long distance). This network of generous producers has helped me take calves to the Iowa State Fair, Stock Show University, and field days using their gooseneck trailers. My FFA chapter also owns its own livestock trailer that I have used.…

After a while, the first trickles of a frozen stream, melting in the spring sun, creep up my left arm. This trickle develops into a wave, as my thoughts begin to cloud and my mind starts fading in and out of conscious. A mask is placed over the lower part of my face, feeding my lungs with strawberry scented chemicals. I’m fighting a losing battle with my eyelids; eventually, I succumb. The once distinct, monotone beeps and baritone voices in the room begin to drown out. My hearing can be likened to that of a scuba diver, slowly submerging into the deep abyss.…

Ice. What could be danger to a mother, a symbol to a reader, or a slab of frozen water to most of you is my home. It’s where I have found my true self and have grown up. Rink to rink, pond to pond. Anywhere I could find an opportunity to progress and do what I love. Hundreds of miles on road under my feet, but yet thousands on the ice. It’s never there to put me down or lift me up but to remind me where I started and where I am today. When I am on the ice I feel perfectly content and feel at home.…
