I only wanted to go to Michigan State and when I applied I ended up only getting in for the spring; that is when my decision got difficult. At first, I was extremely upset; I didn’t into the only school I wanted to go to…
It was a hotter than snot sunny day in a small town in Michigan called Fremotte. This town has four lakes in it. But, let me get to the point.…
I can remember when Sam, Rameck, and I threw a party four years ago subsequently of our success in becoming doctors. We had conquered the toughest obstacles and passed interfering things that tried to break us down. As doctors, our motivation and influences of others helped so much. The bright smiles on our patient's faces made our day.…
That is amazing! I can honestly say a fish tank was not of high worry for me when it comes to things being hacked. I, like most people, think of my cellphone, tablet, and computer, of being hacked compared to my appliances (which non of them are smart so I am hopefully safe there). It's amazing how someone in another state or even country can access almost everything I own. A gentleman named Thomas Hatley, was awoken one morning by someone stating, "I can see all of the devices in your home and I think I can control them” (Hill, 2013). This stranger proceeded to prove to Thomas what she could do by turning his lights on and off. This man seemed astounded by the possibilities. It's amazing to me that some individuals still don't understand the…
After that, we decided to meet up at Mooney’s Bay at three o’clock sharp. This was my first winter in Canada and I felt quite nervous about tobogganing. I was in second grade at the time and I was terribly afraid of the possibility of injuring myself. It was a hard decision, but I knew I had to go tobogganing one way or another, so I decided to go with Henry to Mooney’s Bay.…
There are many social forces that had a play in my choice of attending UC Merced. Financial aid, friends, family, and my desire to move to a different town. From the other colleges that accepted me, UC Merced was the only one that offer me the most financial aid. Most of my friends decided to go to this university. As a result, I would like to attend a university that has my friends from back home attending it. Lastly, I would love to explore more of North California because I have been living in Southern California my entire life. Many people from all over the world have different reasons as to why they would want to attend the college of their choice. Furthermore, there are many different types of social forces that play in everyone lives in their choices for accomplishing their goals. My journey to UC Merced has been one roller coaster that has its highs and downs, but I’m glad I made it…
Freshman year; everyone in the high school, Highland, is required to play at least two seasons of sports in their high school career. Now, last year I was head over heels into riding (no pun intended). Feeling this way, I thought I would have no time for any other sports and would just get an exemption from my horse trainer to excuse me from sports. But, my best friend, Kayla Soltys then came into play. Kayla plays two sports, lacrosse and basketball. Kayla was very persistent in asking me to play lacrosse that spring and finally, I gave in. I thought it would be cool to try a new sport and I would have nothing to lose, only things to gain such as endurance and better hand eye coordination. What I did not know was that, lacrosse is so much…
Sitting in class, everyone is done and I haven't even got started because school is different for me. It takes more for me to understand and two times longer for me to finish. My full name is Martika Jannelyn Lane, I am 17 years old and I've lived in Hood River my whole life. Welcome to meeting me.…
In 1752 I was a seventeen year old destitute living in Scotland, Ireland. I had no real skill-trade or education, but with high ambitions to learn and become a collective dependant I would earn a stable lively-hood in one of the New World colonies. I suffered losses of loved who fell sick and died with only a few remaining that were as impoverished as myself. I feared there would be no prospect of a better life in Scotland and contracted myself as an indentured servant for passage to the New World colonies. Along with many others I boarded a New World merchant ship that specialized in the trade of textiles and clothing. In exchange for travel, food, and decent health, I was sold for profit to proprietors in the New World. The voyage to New…
Before school had start most of my old teacher from high school used to tell me that Montclair State University was a really great school at everything. They had graduated from Montclair State University. They all told me great things about this school that I didn’t believed them until I see it with my own eyes. When I had started school, I was amazed with this school I felt like I was home. Most of the things that I like this school have it.…
Santiago’s goal was to catch a Marlin. My goal is to graduate from college and begin my career in law enforcement as a police officer. When he would dream it would always be a dream of lions the lions represented him or himself as a boy, young and strong. However, the lions also remind him of his own boy, who helps him, fish and talk’s baseball with him. Santiago would be alone at sea most times but would always say he believes a man is never alone at sea. Santiago must deal with loneliness, but I must learn to deal with many types of people with many issues.…
time for me to begin my 10 minute warming up. I move my head side to side, stretch my legs, and I begin to walk briskly. I drank my water because I need to stay hydrated. When I was ready I sprinted out like a rocket. My brother began to time me. It took me 12 minutes to finish my one mile. Once I felt that my heart was pounding, my stomach started to develop painful cramps, and my My throat was as dry as a bone. I stopped and took deep breaths in and out. I took a five minute break and finished my 3 miles by walking. Once I finished my three miles I felt proud of myself and motivated for the next days to…
As a high school senior I sat in my room trying to decide my future in a day among dozens of college pamphlets. Somewhere at the bottom of all of those brochures was one for Motlow State Community College. Not only was it at the bottom of my pile, but it was completely outside of my radar at the time. Now, so many months later, I am sitting in a room on the Motlow campus typing this. I never once imagined myself here. Nevertheless, attending this school and joining the honors program was one of the best decisions I have made in my life. Going on outings with other members of the honors program allowed me to get to know my peers, and in turn allowed me to become more confident in both my verbal and social skills. This will impact my future tremendously…
