My greatest influences are my parents and my brother. My brother suffered from Guillain- Barre Syndrome when he was eight. He lived in the hospital on an artificial ventilation for 97 days and later he had to continue physical therapy for at least ten years as he was completely paralyzed. My parents and my brother devoted their few years completely for his treatment. Today, my brother is a successful engineer working in the bay area. I learned that with dedication, determination and diligence we can achieve our dream in life…

Walking into the locker room about to get ready to go to our last football game of the season. I could smell the sweaty equipment from the kids who never take their pads home. The Hempfield Spartans 7th grade team would be ending their season 0-7 if we didn’t win today. As I was changing into my pads my friend mike walked in the room. I said “you ready for tonight”. “Heck yeah” replied Mike.…
My mother, “Regina Hopkins,” has been a positive influence in my life. She has raised 6 kids all by herself as well as earned a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from a City College in Gainesville, Florida. My mother has been through pretty much everything a person can go through outside of war and was still able to be there and provide for all 6 of her kids. In high school, my mother wanted to play football and couldn't because she was a girl and back-in-the-day women were not allowed to play football with the guys. However, she remained strong by raising 6 kids and independently took care of all of us on her own. My mother has several qualities that I would love to develop. The first quality she has is balance; she certainly knows how to make…

Throughout the years, billions of individuals have inhabited the Earth, each with their own lives and their own particular choices. With every choice made, these individuals have started to compose their legacy, which is the exemplification of who they are and what they have accomplished. I, like the majority of the rest of the world, am starting to leave a legacy as well, and plan to continue and enhance it along the shining stone path known as my life.…
Your task is to write a letter home from the field of battle. This will be historical fiction, meaning that the character you choose will be invented, but the living and fighting conditions described in your letter will be based on historically accurate facts and details from your research. Remember to focus on the health conditions for soldiers in the war, both physically and mentally.…
At that time, I developed on what my own words written the letter implied but were not clearly indicated. To begin with, what were my objectives for this class and were they concise? In my outlook on my own writing, I consider my purposes for signing up for this timeslot of CRTW was the only thing clearly identified in the letter. I reasoned that I am taking this class because I need a Critical Thinking, Reading and Writing credit this semester. My perspective for taking this specific section detailed in my letter of intent is, “I work two jobs and take seven other classes, some are studios (three-hour long classes). So, this was the best class to fit into my schedule (Broome, p.1).” However, I did correspondingly mention that I would like to acquire more information about Martin Luther King Jr. and concentrate on an “interesting subject.” This is a clear example of not critically thinking. I under no circumstances went into detail in what way I would learn more about King, or why I even would like to learn more about this particular man. Subsequently, the only thing I specified is that the time was advantageous to me, not the specific course content. That was not even the purpose of the letter, so I reason it is palpable to note that my intentions were clearly stated but not critically thought…
Football has always been a big part of my life. As a young boy I would day dream of making insane touchdowns, making tackles that would leave man stuck in the ground, and even winning the heisman trophy. In 7th grade I had begged my mother endlessly to sign me up for pee wee football because she would always worry about the risks of football. After finally getting her to sign me up, we went straight into the season. I chose to play running back because as a 12-year-old I was remarkably fast having timed 5.3 in the 40 yard-dash. After a few weeks in the season we approached the playoffs and found out our opponent for the first round of the playoffs were the jaguars who were undefeated. Our team didn’t have the best chemistry on…
If the letter says "Sorry, but we can not accept you into the graduating class of 2005"…
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I look forward to hearing from you soon.…
I decided that I would write a letter to my younger sister, Phoebe. We hadn’t spoken in about ten years, so I wrote her the letter explaining where I was and what I had done for the last ten years. I worked real hard on that letter, and it took me about three hours to write. After I was finished, I took one long look at it, and I realized that all this would do was make me look like a big phony for being gone all those years. I looked at it and felt that I couldn’t send it. I didn’t want her coming to me and telling me about the big phony world and how people are going on in the world. I also knew that if I sent the letter to her, my family would find me and take me back to the insane asylum. The truth was that I just didn’t want to return…
