I wasn’t at all interested in the trophy or the parade, but I was good at taking quizzes and so I read. On the last day to accumulate points, I was 10 points shy of a hundred points. I remember being indifferent to the fact, but once my 3rd grade teacher found out, she announced to the class “let’s help Shannon get 100 points” and she proceeded to ask around for books from the other students. She sat me down at the corner to read while she taught class. When I finally took the quiz that would put me at 100 point, I remember my teacher and my classmates being very proud of me, and that’s my first memory of reading but it wasn’t until a year later that I found the wonderful world of Hogwarts and my love affair with reading took root. Like most kids that grew up in the early 2000s, Harry Potter and his wondrously magical adventures with Ron and Hermione become a way for me to escape my mundane muggle life. I didn’t just randomly pickup one of the Harry Potter books and started to read it, I wasn’t much of a reader then, someone that I looked up
