Personal Narrative: My First American Football Team
After the first game we had a break and were able to watch two other teams play each other. Our coach brought a (Tent) so we didn’t have to sit in the sun and get burnt. Next we find out that one of the girl's parents who traveled to the game went down the street and bought everyone subway. They bought a bunch of foot longs and cut them up so everyone could eat them. We laid our soft but small blankets down under the (tent). We were all crammed together but that was also a part of team bonding. Watching the other teams play each other was very intimidating. They were both good but the game ended with a score of two to one.
Our next game was on the same field as our first. The temperature was in the mid-seventies and it was starting to get humid, so we kept on telling all the girls they need to continue to drink water. The turf was attracting the sun because it was black which caused all the players to be even more hot. We ended up winning that game too with a score of four to zero.

We knew that we were going to move on and play one more game to determine what team wins first and second place. There was a lot of confusion and yelling because we needed to go to a different field but our bus driver was missing. Our coach told us to split up around the field and try to find her so we could make the next game on time. Finally after ten minutes of searching we found her in the crowded stands. The whole team ran onto the bus and started getting ready for the second game. Girls were yelling across the bus asking for pre wrap for their hair and tape for their shin-guards. We all felt rushed and frantic because we wanted to win this next

Everybody from the team was there at the field. If you looked at our team you might think that we were just a bunch of small town screw-offs. We definitely gave the other team that impression as we warmed up. Our team didn’t take things too seriously. In the batting cages, we practiced our home run swings, and trots. The infielders, including me, bare handed the ground balls hit to us by one of the coaches, and jump threw the ball back to the first baseman pretending we were young Derek Jeters. The outfield dove at every ball that was hit at them. Even if the ball was coming straight at them, they ran back and come forward again so they could dive and get the ball. Yes, we were a bunch of…

It was a Saturday morning, but it was no regular Saturday morning. It was football Saturday morning my dad was driving me to my football game. We got there and it was freezing. It was 46 degrees Fahrenheit and we started to do warm-ups and 20 minutes later the refs called us over. We put our helmets on the 50 and walked out to the middle of the field and we elect to differ. They get the ball and we kick off they drop the ball and they recover it. They are down right there they ran a reverse and score a TD. We get the ball and they motion me to the left side and ran a 27 pitch we score a TD “wooohooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Then we smash them on defense. then we get the ball back Tate runs a 17 run and scores a TD “yaaaaaaaaay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”…

The team would always get there an hour early so we could stretch and hit in the cage. We were noticeably the best team in the tournament. The coach of the team was a smart guy, he wanted to win but he didn’t want to embarrass anybody. This game didn’t really mean anything, and not to mention we were playing the worst team there.…

After we warmed up it was time to play the final game. We were the home team so we were in the field first. I was playing center field and it was so hot outside that I felt like I was going to melt. When the umpire yelled, ”Play Ball!” I jumped up on my feet and was ready for the first pitch. On the very first pitch the batter hit the ball straight to me. I watched the ball go up in the air and I was putting my glove up in the air ready to catch the ball but then I lost track of it. My sunglasses did not help me with the sun. I was trying to find the ball, but then SMACK! The ball hit me straight in the mouth and I fell to the ground like a sack of…

After the third and fourth quarter we ended the game 44-6 with 36 points scored by me. Third quarter 12 points were made by me, and fourth quarter one 3 point shot was scored by me. After the game was over we went and got ice cream for the whole team. We all chose our favorite ice cream then devoured our ice creams as a team. After the ice cream we made a promise to each other that we weren’t going to lose a game at all this season, and we all went home and I will always remember this basketball game and how good of a team we were. This is my story, what is…

Whenever I was not playing on the field, I wore a heavy winter coat. It was a regular season game, so we were usually goofing off, as most t-ball players do. But this game, everyone was trying their best to conserve body heat. Let us fast forward to “The Playoffs” (or as close as you can get in t-ball). This was one of the first years I was participating in baseball, so I really didn’t know a whole lot about the playoffs or what they were. All my parents told me was that if my team lost, we were eliminated. I really liked competition, so I was as determined as a little 7 year old could get. We played the games, we pummeled the teams. That was all we did in the playoffs. And then, as soon as I knew it, “The Championship Game” had arrived. I was as ecstatic as a child who receives an iPhone for Christmas. But with all my joy, there also came fear; much fear and nervousness. My parents had…

John and I did not care about the weather we would go to ninth street almost everyday after school. We would practice as if we were being drafted into the National Football League. The craziest weather condition I have ever played in was about ten degrees and snow blanketing the field. The snow made it hard to get traction so running fast and being agile were pretty challenging. On top of those being challenging the snow that covered the ground made it freezing cold to get tackled we called this inspiration to stay up! Celebrating touchdowns was a blast in the snow.…

Undefeated in the regular season and on a role going into this Friday night game, we were the team to be beat. Our seventh grade team, quarterbacked by Alex Watermeier, had been together for three years and had built up an unbreakable chemistry. Although we had never made it this far in the yearly tournament, we were pumped up and ready…

Everyone on my team, including me, were 120% focused during our warm-up because we were versing a good Illinois team and their team’s name was Euro SC Select. This team had a lot of skilled and fast players that were definitely bigger than us. Most of the players on this team were very aggressive and physical too, so my team had to be very strong. There weren’t many times when my soccer games were really intense, but this game was very intense to watch and the parents were getting so nervous and anxious. It was a really close game and we ended up tying the game 0-0. Because of the tie in the championship game, we had to go into penalty kicks. My coach got to choose 5 people to kick from the penalty box and they have to try to make it in. My team was so scared to the point where we all held hands and we stayed very close to each other. In the end we were happy because we had made 3 out of 5 goals in and the other team only made 1 goal out of 5 shots! To phrase it better, my team won the tournament and we all lived happily ever…

I walked out of my dad’s car, then carried my bat and glove to the field. “Oh boy, I really hope we win this game!” I thought to myself with a determination. I could smell the familiar aroma of the dark green grass mixed in with the salty aroma of the soft dirt as I entered the field. The teams of third and fourth graders started to warm up for a little while before the game started. The umpire said, “Play ball!” and…

When I awoke on that Sunday morning, I visited my grandmother who was living with us at the time. Being an extremely religious 88 year old woman, my grandma (Nonna) wished me a happy birthday and handed me the most beautiful gold necklace. It shined with such brilliance and there was an angel depicted on the front. She explained to me that it was a guardian angel and she believed it had helped her through tough times. Without a second thought I accepted the thoughtful gift and left for my championship volleyball tournament which consisted of 12 teams. Upon arrival, we checked in and progressed to the gym. The sharp smell of wax felt cold in my nose as I met up with my team. I still had my birthday card from my grandmother with me so before our first game I read it and it mentioned that in its origin, my name meant that the lord has answered and how thankful she was to be able to see me grow up. I put it away and played 11 teams. Our team was completely worn out to a point where I could feel sweat collect and swiftly stream down my back. I was burning but my skin was cold when the final game began for the championship title. Our team was desperate, tired, and hopeless. It is impossible to win a game with that way . The game had a rough start, we knew we would lose and we all tried…
