Auburn Raptors: A Short Story
“ Yay . . . we’re finally here !” said Justin . He is apart of a basketball team called Auburn Raptors that just traveled about eight hours to Miami , Florida for a basketball tournament . This is the team’s first tournament that’s over two hours away . All summer he has been waiting for this moment , staying after practice , doing more then the coach asks and even more . Now is the time for him and his team to show what they have .
“ Today starts one of the best weeks of our lives ! ” spoke Coach Al . The team first checked into a hotel , a couple minutes after unpacking they all had a blast in the pool . Knowing that their first three games was the next day the team had a curfew for 11:00 . After completing their first
three games the Raptors went 2-1 which is great for the first day ! Later that day Justin and the team went back to the hotel and exercise preparing for better match -ups tomorrow .
“ Rise and shine my boys ” shouted Justin . The team quickly got dressed and went to eat breakfast . Today is the last day until playoffs , and the Raptors only has to win two out of the four games they play . Thankfully they went 3 -1 which gives them an overall record of 5- 2 . The team celebrated that night on a successful record at Dave and Busters , arriving at the hotel at 11:45 Justin and a few others stayed up mostly all night playing the game system .
After Awhile it was the next morning which was “ playoff day ” . When the coach came to wake up the team half of them skipped breakfast to get extra sleep . The team dressed up and headed to the gym . “ Alright guys today is today we have all been waiting for , we have to win two out of the three games to advance , I believe that you all can do this just put your head in the game , 1 ..2...3.. Raptors !” yelled coach . Even with the encouraging speech the boys failed to win more than one game with Justin only scoring 8 points and had 4 turnovers .
After the game coach Al talked to the team about making the right decision and being responsible . He mentioned he heard the game system and he could tell something was wrong when he went to wake the team up. “ I am sorry for my actions ” apologized Justin. Meanwhile , the team headed back home hoping to do better the next year .
