As we entered the gates to the field , I glanced around and noticed the field was relatively nice, so I figured it wouldn’t be too different from ours. Ethan and David were in the center circle with the ball. The referee blew his booming whistle again. David began the kickoff by passing the ball to Ethan. Our team rapidly advanced up the field, forcing a corner kick. As we set up for the kick I tasted the salty sweat trickling down my face and into my mouth. I heard Ethan shout to get open. He backed up and then ran forward and drilled the ball from the corner. I locked my focus on the ball; it was headed straight for me. I leaped into the air, as the rigid sphere made contact with my head. I jerked my head to the side and noticed the ball had missed the goal, but fortunately, Dawson was at the other end of the ball. He trapped the ball and sent it right back to me. From all around me I heard my teammates yell to shoot. I brought back my foot and launched the ball into the net.
