Personal Narrative: My First Experience With A Dog
My first experience with a dog was when I was 7 years old. One day I was going to go help my dad with some work around the house. My neighbors were talking with my dad and they had just gotten a new dog. I had just gotten up that morning and was getting ready to help my dad with chores. I didn’t expect something bad would happen to me that day while helping my dad outside.
I had just went downstairs and was heading outside to help my dad. I had just gotten out the door and my dad was talking to the neighbors and they had just went down to a shelter to get a dog a new dog. My dad told me that we didn’t have to start for another 45 minutes but I wanted to see what type of the dog my neighbors had gotten so I went over next to my dad to see.

Entering Paw Paw I was filled with excitement as I saw the stage being set up and all the campers. Once we were directed to our parking spot, we both got out and gathered our camping supplies. Once we gathered our supplies, we decided to walk around looking for people we knew, as well as camping spots that were not already reserved. After tirelessly searching for friends that were not even there yet to figure out, we came upon what seemed like a perfect spot until we saw that it was reserved. After leaving this campsite, we retreated back to the woods area to sit and think of what to do. Shortly after his girlfriend contacted me saying that she and my ex were there. Hearing this we decided to walk all the way back to the entrance to meet them,…

It started off like everyday for every beagle working in the airport. A beagle’s life working in the airport is mainly using our acute sense of smell to sniff out any meats or plants that could possibly carry diseases or pests. I work in the Beagle Brigade at the Tay Airport. The Beagle Brigade is a team of beagles, and human handlers that search for prohibited agricultural products, and unauthorized meats. From what I’ve heard my owner says that without us our foods wouldn’t be safe, and there can be diseases that can be introduced in the U.S.To make it simple, without us humans wouldn’t be safe at all.…

Copper, my dog that I had had since I was borne, was dying. I couldn’t believe my ears. I ran up to my living room and saw Copper lying on the floor. He was a thirteen year old dog and that was a very good age for a dog to die at. I ran up to him and lay there beside him until my dad had to take him to the vet to get put down.…

Let me tell you about my first encounter with a pit bull/boxer mix. I went to the local animal shelter to get a dog for my children, I was going to surprise them a dog, so I actually adopted a Rottweiler, who by the way the shelter volunteers recommended would be a good dog because she passed…

My family dog is a hairless Chinese Crested named Sid. He is a gray, white, and black dog with no hair except on his head, paws, and the tip of his tail. We rescued Sid 8 years ago from Detroit, Michigan. His owners left him outside in the freezing cold when they moved away. They abandoned him. Adopting Sid changed my life forever. By caring for him, I have learned loyalty, responsibility, love, compassion, and patience. These are traits I see and feel within him as well. I believe animals mirror God’s hope and love for us. For example, God wants us to forgive others who have done us harm. Sid has forgiven his original owners by moving beyond the shy and fearful dog he was when we first brought him home. He is a happy and joyful dog now.…

Have you ever been ran over by your dog? Well if not then you can just listen to my story. I was about five years of age when this tragedy happened. I was almost labeled a hamster killer. The first pets i got were dwarf hamsters. I went to petsmart with my mom and picked out two hamsters that were supposedly both girls, but one ended up being a boy. One's name was Caesar and the other Felipe. They weren’t always the nicest, but that didn’t make me love them any less. There was this one time that both of my dwarf hamster's got out while i was at school. My mom told me when i got home that she closed the door to my bedroom because they had escaped. I searched everywhere in my room for them. One hamster was under my bed and the other under my sister's bed since we shared a room at the time. Hamsters always find a way to get into the hardest places to find them in. I caught the one under my sisters bed and he was fine. When i went to get the other one out something funny, but sad happened. I have bins with wheels on them that i would roll under my bed and store stuff in. I had to roll the one under my bed out to see where the hamster was because i couldn't find her. So, as im doing this my mom came in the room to see if i had caught them. I was rolling the bin out as i saw something flat squashed on the floor…

My first dog was a disaster. I’d gotten a Shih-Tzu as a seventh birthday present. She forewent obedience training and socialization. I didn’t walk her, didn’t clean up after her, and spoiled her rotten. Literally. It was unsurprising years later when she’d nipped at people unprovoked or would race around the house in a dizzying state, knocking vases off stands and knocking over unsteady chairs. Though on occasion, I found humor in her badness. The most hilarious incident being…

Veterinarian, author, lawyer, doctor, and psychologist: these were the occupations I considered pursuing throughout my years. Though the specialities differ, one similarity is evident in all—they all give back to their respective community. Noticeably, my interests would alter throughout the years; I knew that I wanted to care for others, but I did not know how. I knew that I wanted to have an occupation that was interactive, but I did not know which. Granted, as high school was coming to a close more and more relatives became interested or invested in my educational aspirations; for instance, my grandmother was eager to persuade me to become a doctor in order to heal her aching back. One of those relatives would contribute a suggestion that…

Ever since I can remember, my one driving force has been for animals. I was the girl who was obsessed with helping a hurt or lost animal, and always curious about the creatures I found in my backyard. I have a devoted passion for animals of all shapes and sizes and plan to spend my future saving them and their habitats. I want to help the people of our world understand that animals are not ours to use and abuse for material use, food, and entertainment. First with saving animas comes saving their habitats. For the way we are advancing in the technological and industrial world is not sustainable; due to human activities, we face a world with no fisheries, coral reefs, or rainforests; declining oxygen concentrations, the loss of honey bees,…
