Personal Narrative: My Passion For Animals
Ever since I can remember, my one driving force has been for animals. I was the girl who was obsessed with helping a hurt or lost animal, and always curious about the creatures I found in my backyard. I have a devoted passion for animals of all shapes and sizes and plan to spend my future saving them and their habitats. I want to help the people of our world understand that animals are not ours to use and abuse for material use, food, and entertainment. First with saving animas comes saving their habitats. For the way we are advancing in the technological and industrial world is not sustainable; due to human activities, we face a world with no fisheries, coral reefs, or rainforests; declining oxygen concentrations, the loss of honey bees, …show more content…
But the most amazing thing about these animals was their capacity to love so deeply those who come to visit them day in and day out. These creatures were the most magnificent, inspiring beings I have come in contact with. After that much too short trip, I am determined to continue rescuing animals, restoring their habitats, and giving them a life they deserve to live. My heart lies with tigers and other big cats, and in my future I plan to own a sanctuary of my own that rescues, rehabilitates, and hopefully returns big cats back to the wild. These are things I feel strongly about, and that is why I believe I belong at ESF. Along the way I hope to help as many other animals as I possibly can and I believe spending the next few years of my life learning and experiencing wildlife at ESF will give me the knowledge I need to be successful in doing so. I know that I would be surrounding myself with likeminded individuals, who share my passion for discovering more ways to live sustainably and make our planet be more ecologically

What is the world going to be like in the next 20 years? Will we still see the same animals as we see today? As a nation, the impact on the environment that we have is a very substantial amount. But what about individually impacting the environment? Many people believe that they have a little impact, so many people don’t think they need be conscious about the impact they have on the world’s animals and environment. If the world would realize that a one person, with a little impact they can join together and have 7.3 billion people having a small impact. With that big of an impact, the world would be a better living space and the future generations will get to enjoy the animals on the verge of extinction. Sandra Steingraber is an ecologist and…

It all began when a was a little boy and all I wanted was a dog, for years I begged and begged, and still no dog. I felt as if I was incomplete without one, I had even written persuasive essays in school on why I should get a dog and waited and just hoped for it. Finally, when I was in 5th grade, I found a church ministry where we met once month and came up with ideas to raise money for the local rescue. During the meetings, we would also go for a walk, those who had animals would walk them. One time, somebody from the rescue came with one of the rescue dogs for the walk, which inspired me to go to the rescue and check it out.…

I have a deep interest in the ocean and marine life, which was fostered when my family and I moved to the Pacific Coast. This interest grew further after I went on a backstage tour to the aquarium at the Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo. Due to this continuous exposure to the ocean and the creatures that live there, I am focusing my education around my interest in marine life. It's for this reason that I’m majoring in Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry. With this education, my goal is to become an Aquarist, and build my way up to becoming an ocean or aquarium diver. As a diver, I want to have the opportunity to study coral reefs, and create and implement conservation plans. In addition, I want to study sea turtles and ways to conserve their declining…

My mother had found a zoo online that was located in our city and decided that it would be fun to check it out. I had my doubts since I had always trusted well-known zoos such as the San Diego Zoo, but in the end I too decided it would be worth looking into. It was Saturday noon, when my mom, dad, and I left for the zoo. When we were halfway there we came upon a bumpy road scattered with rocks. My father told us that it was used in winter to keep the cars from slipping on the icy road. But I could only think of one thing at that moment, the immense headache which the constant bumping on the road brought me. I complained that we should’ve gone to the Humane Society. It was right near the house and there wasn’t a bumpy road we had to cross when…

It was a relaxing day at home in the Helfman household. My mom was constantly jabbering on the phone, my dad’s eyes were glued to his computer working, and my brother was stuck to his bed and never got up. My brother, Danny had gotten into Syracuse University a few months earlier and he was ecstatic about the life he was going to make for himself. Danny and I got along well our whole lives, but we weren’t as close as some other siblings. This upset me because sometimes all I wanted to do was talk to my brother and get his advice. I have three dogs. My dogs Sadie, Tootsie, and Lucky are cuddly and soft toy poodles.…

I was almost labeled a hamster killer. The first pets i got were dwarf hamsters. I went to petsmart with my mom and picked out two hamsters that were supposedly both girls, but one ended up being a boy. One's name was Caesar and the other Felipe. They weren’t always the nicest, but that didn’t make me love them any less. There was this one time that both of my dwarf hamster's got out while i was at school. My mom told me when i got home that she closed the door to my bedroom because they had escaped. I searched everywhere in my room for them. One hamster was under my bed and the other under my sister's bed since we shared a room at the time. Hamsters always find a way to get into the hardest places to find them in. I caught the one under my sisters bed and he was fine. When i went to get the other one out something funny, but sad happened. I have bins with wheels on them that i would roll under my bed and store stuff in. I had to roll the one under my bed out to see where the hamster was because i couldn't find her. So, as im doing this my mom came in the room to see if i had caught them. I was rolling the bin out as i saw something flat squashed on the floor…

I was never a dog lover. My kids always wanted a dog. I dug my heels in but eventually, they wore me down with chorus’ of “please can we get a dog?” Begrudgingly, I began looking for a dog. I knew that I did not have the patience for training and I knew that when kids say they will help; I knew exactly what that meant.…

I am passionate about zoology and learning about the physiology and behaviour of the animals around us from cellular to whole organism level through evolution and classification. One of the main reasons for this was Sir David Attenborough. My curiosity and love for the subject grew as I read his books and watched documentaries, such as Planet Earth. I am particularly interested in the animal behaviour aspect of the course, along with biodiversity and taxonomy, which I have covered in A-level biology. A personal interest in conservation resulted in my joining WWF.…

Wildlife is a vital part of our ecosystem. Wildlife includes all animals and other organisms. Many animals are in the danger of extinction and strongly need to be saved. Animals add to the natural beauty of the earth. Humans’ activities become a big threat to the animals. Hunting and fishing is a sport or recreation for some people. Animals get killed indiscriminately. Some people kill animals for making profits by selling their skins, meat etc. Poaching is done in some of the areas. Elephants are killed for their ivory, alligators for their skin, birds for their feathers, furs, hens for their meat. The list is non ending. Hunting of animals is not just a cruelty done to the animals but also a shameful thing. By doing this, we make loss of ourselves too. Deforestation is also one of the major causes of their extinction. As the trees are cut for fuel, timber, wood, paper, thus the forest area is getting diminished. Thus, the animals depending on the plants for their food also starve. Due to the rapid urbanisation, trees and forests are being cut for the space to live in. Hence, making a large number of animals homeless. Their natural habitat gets destroyed. Animals are an important part of the food chain. Nature maintains a delicate balance between plants and animals.Killing animals create an imbalance in the ecosystem. We must promote wildlife awareness among each other through posters or by educating them. As otherwise ultimately, the loss is ours only. There is a strong need for wildlife conservation. The Indian government started various natural projects and wildlife conservation programs such as Project Tiger, Nature Camps and Jungle Lodges to promote the awareness of wildlife among the people. These projects not only help to preserve and protect our natural heritage but also encourage eco-tourism. The Indian government has been sucessful in protecting the Tiger population. The Kaziranga National Park in Assam is also an effort to save…
