for me. She told me not to worry and relax, because everything were set up for me, all I had to do is to get ready for action shots during the game. Dr. Martinson told me where to focus when looking through the viewfinder. Then she told me where the shutter release-button and how to use it.
I learn that I can push the shutter releases button as long as I want that will let the camera take many pictures at same time. Which is very beneficial for action shots, because things happens very fast. At first, I couldn't believe that I actually gonna take action shots. I had no confident and scared to mess up. However, my mentor was very calm and encouraging. She told me this is a good opportunity to do something different and still part of photography learning. Even though my subject is pet photography. So I agreed and tell myself that I can do it. She told me to have fun with it and don’t worry about how pictures will turn out. She also said is something that we do to have fun together. She give the camera when the game started after few minutes, Dr. Martinson stood by me most of the time and give great suggestions by telling me when is good time to take shots. Every time a an excitement comes, she would tell me this is the time to take it. Not for long, I learned very quick about what is the best time to take shots and the focus. Soon I was able to take shots without Dr. Martinson tell me when to take shots. Also I was getting hang of it and gained more
confident. That I was able to make my own decision or judgement to take action shots. Since it was college soccer game, these soccer player were very fast and the game as very intense. There were a lot of action going on that I was afraid to miss great opportunities. I constantly looking through the viewfinder with the camera, follow the ball and be ready. I feel like I have my own little TV watching the soccer game. I zoom in and zoom out follow every action of what they are doing. Sometimes the ball goes very high or kicked all the way to otherside of the field that I had to stop looking through the viewfinder and look at the actual game to re-adjust my focus. Everytime the ball is coming closer to the goal, I’m always ready to take the opportunity to take shots. Also I really like take shots when the person with the ball trying to pass by the opponent. My mentor let took the picture the whole game. First quarter of the game wasn’t easy, but during the second quarter of the game I felt much better. At the point, I was happy and enjoying taking action shots. It was a totally new experience, even though I was afraid, but I felt good what I did at the end of the game. The most important is that I had great time with my mentor.
