Personal Narrative: My Great White House
In days beyond recall, I spent my time in a pasture that seemed as wide and long as the ocean. There was a great pond on the side of field, which had a little creek the ran straight across. It was full of meadow flowers and tall amber glowing grass. Being tiny for my size it came up past my waist ; from the deck of the great white house you could barely see me. The house was not my own, though I could go on that I wish it was. It belonged to my Grandfather and Grandmother, who were both imaginative, kind, along with goodwill to all. My hair was the color of yellow corn, long, and very unmanageable. My two cousins were my greatest allies; accomplices when I would bring forward the most absurd ideas a 6 year old could have. It was one of those absurd ideas that I recall on a picturesque afternoon. We had just had …show more content…
It was then I divulged them in my proposition to have a soaking water gun fight. This were no teeny water guns these were huge weapons that would get you drenched within a 3 meter radius. And with that we were off to the garage.
Running in my Poppa was working on his motorcar; begging him to let help us get out the super soakers. After what felt like a lifetime of begging he set up three loading stations, one on the side of the house, another by the barn, and lastly one in the front of the house. We went our separate ways super soakers in hand. I loaded my water weapon putting the tank of water on my back. I almost fell straight backwards it was so cumbersome. I counted to ten and was off.
Carefully creeping to the backyard I turned to my right and came to face my enemy! The world stopped for a split second giving me the chance to lock and load; it was gone time then vanished completely in that moment I was soaked with water. Kody ran as fast as his little legs would carry him. That was it I was going to get him and soak him straight to the bone. I continued my

Having the luxury of great health and family, it can be difficult for me to see outside the realm of comfortability and see the daily hardships people experience. There are so many people without housing, stability, and monetary resources, and these people often find themselves wondering where they can find help and figure out what to do next during trying times. One place people can reach out for assistance is Ronald McDonald House Charities. The nonprofit provides housing and food for families with a critically ill child in the hospital. The forty-two room house aims to provide comfort and support for families living through their worst nightmare. The charity provides this support by its network of staff and volunteers who prepare food for…

Last year, I was one of three high school Juniors chosen by my local electric cooperative to join students from across Arkansas in a trip to Washington D.C. During this trip, our group visited all the usual tourist spots in Washington: the Capitol Building, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Smithsonian among others. But of the sites we visited, the ones that affected me most were the places related to President Thomas Jefferson. Previous to this trip, I knew very little about Jefferson, and even wondered what he did to deserve a place on Mount Rushmore. However, this trip exposed me to Jefferson in an entirely new way. We visited Monticello, his home in Virginia, where I learned about Jefferson’s broad interests in science, architecture, and philosophy,…

My political viewpoint has changed dramatically since I was first introduced to politics. I come from a democratic family, where it is strongly believed that it is the government’s responsibility to care for all people and that the government knows what is best for all people. Every voting season, my parents vote for a democratic president and explain to me the reasoning behind their decision. It was not until I was in the tenth grade that I realized that I did not hold the same political beliefs as my parents. After taking several political quizzes and extensively researching the bevy of political parties, I now know that I am an independent. What is an independent? An independent is an individual politician not affiliated to any political…

My whole symbol revolves around an American flag because I am American. On stripes area of the flag I put the sports that I play every year, which are basketball, football, baseball, and track. If you look inside the track symbol you will see the number 400 because I run 400’s in track. The basketball is the biggest and in the middle because it is my favorite sport to play. If you follow the sports counter clock wise around the flag you will find the order of my favorite sports. I like basketball because you get to run a lot and it could get physical. I like football because you get to tackle kids without getting in trouble. The reason I do track is to travel to towns with your friends and to get the feeling of winning. I enjoy playing baseball…

In past few days I experienced tears of joy, and tears of sadness, one moment I was happy with a survivor’s growth and the next moment I was heartbroken to hear the struggles they faced to be where they are at now. At one point I felt like I had no control over my emotions and it was my emotions that had control over me. I felt so weak when I had no control, but I also felt good and free to let all my emotions out. The past few days at placement made me reevaluate certain things in my personal life, and changed my perception for a lot of things.…

In 2014 I came to America to study. It had been the first time I ever traveled somewhere without my parents and it was a much farther distance than I had ever traveled before. My English wasn't the best and I wasn't sure of how I would handle American customs and culture. When my student visa was approved I was very excited and very nervous, it was a big moment for me. When the time came I boarded my plane and made the journey to America. My time here has been very hard but also very fortunate for me. I have been able to study just like I had planned and I have been able to live in several different states which I am very grateful for. Over time I have been able to improve my English, thus giving me the ability to have a proper conversation with someone I may have met on a random day at the store or during my time in class.…
