After a few years, I had made a trusted circle of friends that to this day I’m connected with. Unfortunately, my parents were told that they were being transferred yet again and this time, it was nothing small. My parents told me that the transition from a school that was nearly 8,000 miles away was never going to be easy but something that I would have to manage. To this day I can recall my first day of an American public middle school. While the students and teachers were welcoming at the best I can imagine, I could still remember feeling left out. The language barrier, the cultural difference, and many other words that I could have cared less when I was in India all started to make sense and I was able to learn one word real quick; adapting.
