I would watch my brothers, do some school work while they napped and the rest after they went to bed. I have no idea why I thought that would work, because fun fact about me, I am not a night person. I’m usually in bed at 9:30-ish, no later than 10. I should’ve known it was going to be too much for me to handle. I quickly fell behind in my studies, and focused on my brothers. And even when I did have time for some work, I couldn’t find the motivation to do it. My mom worked two jobs, overnight at a FedEx Ground in Houston, and then an all day shift as a manager at a Buccee’s. She worked 7 days a week, meaning the times she was home she was desperately trying to catch some shut eye before she had to leave …show more content…
It’s better at home now, my mom got laid off from Buccee’s and is now just climbing the managerial ladder at her new FedEx unit. She only works five days a week and shorter shifts, so I have more time not only to myself but also to focus on my schooling. I’m still reaping the consequences of how far behind I got in school last year, from the end of my sophomore year and the beginning of my junior year. But, I know with hard work and determination, I can get back on track. I’m still struggling to figure out not only how I’m going to get through college but also where and for what. Right now, I’m focusing on graduating high school and going to Alvin Community College to take my basic/core courses, just so I can have some college education in my
