Personal Narrative: My Underclassman Year Of High School
From the beginning of high school to now, I have changed a lot. My values and maturity has changed the most. In ninth grade I was worried about all the wrong things. However, now I am more focused on school, and issues that actually matter. Friendships have also majorly changed since freshman year. I have come to understand that people change, but everything will work out for the best in the end. These are just a few concepts that going through my underclassmen years of high school has taught me.

My closest friends now are Dillon, Brinslee, and Rilie. Dillon is my boyfriend, and I could count on him for anything. He is the person that I’m always with, and knows most about me. Brinslee has been my best friend since I met her in eighth

I am the captain for CHS cheer, and I also cheer competitively in Suwannee. One of my other favorite activities is watching soccer with my boyfriend. My least favorite thing is boredom. For the most part, I like to stay busy and have things to do.

I think that I will change a lot in this upcoming year. I already have a better mindset about things than I did before, and I feel as if that will only grow throughout the rest of the year. I slacked off towards the end of school last year, and that is something I regret most. School is really important to me, and I think my work ethic will be a factor that changes most this year. I'm getting into good study habits, and trying to stay away from procrastination. So, hopefully more positive changes will keep coming my way, because I want to make my last year my best.

I have many goals I want to accomplish this year. College is my main focus. I want to do everything I can to lead myself in the right direction. I hope this year will give me a better idea of what I want to study when I’m out of high school. I want to finish my general education with FGC, and then hopefully move to a bigger university (preferably UF or FSU). I would also love to cheer in college, so I will most likely be attending more college cheer clinics this

The reason my academics aren’t going well as you or I would like is because of the several family issues I’ve had to face during my high school career. It began my Sophomore year, I found out my mom needed surgery in her arm so the chances of her cancer spreading would be reduced. I was under a great deal of stress worrying about my mother, taking care of my four siblings making sure they knew everything was going to be okay, even though I wasn’t sure myself. It was all up to me; while my other brother worked to help with bills, my mom being in the hospital, and my dad working. Taking care of my siblings consisted of cooking, homework, cleaning, nightly routine, and putting them to bed. When the work was done it would be around 10 o'clock. It was already tough to buckle down and focus on homework without all the stress. With all this my first semester grade was less than great.…

Throughout my years of high school I have always strived for the best grades that I could attain, and they didn’t come easy. There were plenty of distractions that had driven me off course. Whether it was long hours at practice, volunteering for my community, or having a part-time job, I couldn’t let these activities hinder my grades. This purpose had sprung in me, to not only strive in my extracurricular activities, but also my schoolwork. Balancing both school and additional activities wasn’t a simple task. This led me to many sleepless nights, in which I had to tutor myself on certain topics I was struggling on. This ranged from my hardest subject, to studying extra hours on my hardest class, and even simple topics that I needed extra work…

For school, the thing that has changed was my grades have improved so that I was able to get principal's list. My life has changed because I have found out about my true friends and my “fake” friends. The ones that I know more outside of school are my true friends but the ones that I don’t talk to at all is different. This helped me change the way I look at people and kinda prejudge. But hopefully this habit will just go away with time.…

I have also changed socially and emotionally throughout seventh grade by, in the beginning of the year I was very shy and didn't really want to be there. But as the time went on I think I have at least grown some comfort into participating in class. I also think that I made a lot of new friends and hang out with some different people than in the beginning of the year. Like I used to sit at a lunch table with other friends, but know I sit with different people during lunch.…

Back in 2012 I was accepted into Early college academy at south-ridge (ECAS). This school is particularly special because it allows high school students to take dual credit courses in a community college. Obtaining high grades in my classes while also being required to do my best was something I always had trouble with. I was the the type of person who didn't mind a 70 when it came to report cards, until I found out colleges didn't like students with low grades or at least with low performance like me. My freshman year I made the decision to improve my grades and become a better student.…

One of the many areas I improved in was my self-esteem. Freshman year it was at a zero and to this day it has grown by 22. I feel way more confident and understanding of how things go that I no longer get myself down about me messing up on the little things. Also my stress management has raised, which means I can deal with my stress in a controlled and calm manner. I have also grown in my drive strength which means I have more motivation to get things done, along with my commitment ethic to have things done on time and turned in. my leadership ad sales orientation also went up which is a huge plus for me. I hope I can keep improving in these areas my entire life.…

Walking into my honors English class my eleventh grade year, I felt as if it would be a breeze. Thinking back to the previous year to when I constantly maintained an “A+” and without hesitation I knew that any test, quiz, or writing prompt I was destined for an “A.” It was until now sobbing in a big puddle of salty water I knew for a fact I was doomed. Although I had never really thought into what karma was and what it really meant. It was my eleventh grade year in high school it had finally caught up to me.…

Starting your freshman year of college is a really, really terrifying moment. You go from being in a place where you are totally comfortable to being in a new place full of new people you have yet to get to know. And for every single freshman, it’s especially harder for any number of personal reasons. When I first got to Williams I often wondered if I really belonged here at all—was I smart enough, talented enough, educated enough? As I got closer to my JAs and my entrymates, I began to overcome my insecurity and learned that I could and did belong at Williams. I want to be a JA because I want to give a group of freshman the same support and confidence that my JAs instilled in me. I want to be able to work with a group of my peers and my…

During my current four years of high school, I have come to a conclusion that life is hard and the decisions you make are very important. This is my last year of high school and I’m the first one to graduate from my family. I’m lost, I wish people could help me out and tried to guide me in the direction of the right decision but is my life and choices. One of my challenges was in my Sophomore year when I didn't make the varsity team because I was not in good condition. The other challenge happen in my junior year when I got injured a week before the championship game and I had to recover before the game. When I was a sophomore I tried out for the varsity soccer team at my school but I did not make it, because I was not at that level. Some of the reason I did not make it were ,because I was overweight, slow, not strong enough and would put too much pressure on myself so I was not able to complete a pass or a shot. Those were the things I needed to work on so I could become a better soccer player. I was really upset…

I guess what changed my way, was when I moved out of my parents house. It completely changed me, and was a huge step towards my education and work ethic. Once you go out on your own, you have so many more things you have to keep track of, especially for me because I have never really done much work. There are so many things you need to do to maintain a house. It was hard at first but with time it became easier, and easier. It made me want to accomplish better things in life.…
