We weren’t used to the weather up there. It was colder than what we were used to and it was almost actually about to snow. We had to wear these small little bean bags in our gloves and when you shake them up they would warm your hands up. Another thing we did was go to church before the games. I appreciated that because we weren’t even from Atlanta but the people in the church still supported us. When we woke up in the morning at our hotel we had a big breakfast for all of us. …show more content…
During All-Stars I played defense instead of offense.
I could play both sides of the field so it didn’t matter to me which position I played. While we were in practice I ended up getting hurt and injuring my leg. While I was making a tackle, one of my teammates stepped on the bottom half of my leg, right under my calf. I couldn’t practice for like two days due to the injury but I ended up coming back but I could still feel the effects of what had happen. Everything was all good until somebody ended up stepping on the same exact leg and this time it hurt worse than ever. I limped over to the sideline and fell on my back in pure agony. The pain was excruciating. My coaches ran over to where I was and checked on me, I told them what had happen and they just told me to get up and try to walk on it. It hurt at first but I eventually fought through it and got back on the
field.
When I got back on the field it was 3rd down with one minute left in the fourth quarter. They snapped the ball and did a run play but we stopped it right in front of the touchdown. So now it’s fourth down and the other team is less than a yard from touchdown. They snapped the ball and attempted a read option play. A read option is when the quarterback reads the defense before handing the ball off to the Running Back. If the defense bites on the run play the quarterback keeps the ball and runs it. They ran this play and our team bit on the run but I played coverage instead of press because of my leg so I was able to read the option. When I saw the ball was still in the Quarterback’s hands I ran as fast and hard as I possibly could and sacked him before any yards could be gained and helped us win the game. That’s a game I will always remember because it felt as if I got injured for a reason.
