Personal Narrative: The Day I Got My First Deer
The day I got my first deer I was 10 years old and It was Sunday at 5:00 AM in the morning. I woke up and went and hopped in the shower then I got done and walked out into my room and put my clothes on but, not just any ordinary clothes these clothes were washed in “no scent” which says what it does. it is a company that makes a liquid and that liquid can be sprayed used a laundry detergent or anything. Then I went into the living room where my dad was; and he had already completed these steps that I have completed. Next we got the 308 rifle and the 30-6 rifle out of the car and bring the guns into the living room. Next I made sure I had the right bullets because a long time ago before I could hunt with a gun and would just have …show more content…
So we took a picture. Then we wait till sun down. Then Kubota came with its headlights to pick us up and the head- lights blinded a buck for a second it was so quick I could not tell how many points. Then we unloaded the guns and chairs on our backs, got down, and into the Kubota with Carlos, and his friend and his dog. After Carlos said are you guys ready to go? I said no! I shot a deer and I know for a fact I got her! Carlos agreed with me. “So let’s find your first beauty”. We parked the Kubota near the corn feeder where I shot it. Next we looked for blood trails, footprints, and let loose the hound to go find it. We searched for 30 minutes then then we found 1 drop of blood, then we were on its trail. Then we found more blood in a certain direction. Then, Carlos yelled to me “KYLE COME LOOK AT THIS” I saw a skeleton of a deer head next to Carlos. That’s what I thought he called me over there to see but, then as I was about to turn away I saw to the left of the deer head and to the right of Carlos’s right leg. I see a deer leg then my face blew up faster than you can say …show more content…
Carlos put his 2 fingers in the shoulder of the dear where I shot it and marked my face with the blood for good luck. Then I got a picture with it. After we loaded the deer into back of the Kubota. Then We drove to the car, and lugged it in the back of the truck and weighed it and it was 140 pounds! Hanging of the truck. So we said we are not skinning this deer we are going to take this to the pro’s. We took it to Wild Boy’s Processor Shop. We had the hard choice of how we wanted to eat the meat. A sheet of paper was handed to us full of options. We decided to have all of it divided into only snack sticks and patties. The first, being the best way they offer the meat in my opinion. The patty meat was mixed with onions which made awesome deer burgers. After we dropped off our kill, Carlos, the hunt master, took us back to our truck to put the guns and the chairs away for safekeeping. We said our good-byes and headed back home. We arrived late or you could say really early because it was 1:00 in the morning, not to mention it was a school night for my dad and myself. We quickly unloaded the truck. With quick showers to get off the blood, I put on my pj’s and turned off the light. I laid here briefly thinking that this was the day I shot my first

So, some people went to see what the noise was. I fell back asleep and when we woke up I was told that Greeb and Frok were badly injured by a dire wolf attack, so we needed to stay in the huts for the day. I went down to the river and ate some dried rabbit, then grabbed my arrow to find more. My dog Bork was able to sniff six out, so the supply did not go dry. I saw something in the distance watching us, but it walked away, so I went to camp and went to bed.…

With the barrel of her musket propped firmly on the limb of a tree, Charity took steady aim at the deer. The medium-sized buck was grazing at the edge of a thicket of wax myrtles, near where she saw the deer tracks the day before. John and Uriah were squatting in the bushes behind her. She had brought them along to help with the bleeding out of the deer, should she kill one, and to help carry it back to camp. They could then dress it out and help her prepare the meat for making jerky and so forth. She also hoped to can some of the meat so that it would last a lot longer. She was glad that Nancy had shown her how and taught her how to preserve food in glass jars- it was much better than having to dry it all into tough leather strips… Taking careful aim, Charity squeezed the trigger, while saying a quick prayer that the bullet would hit its mark. She was worried that she wasn't close enough to the deer, but if she had tried to get any closer, it would have seen her and ran off into the woods.…

When he got a little closer, he saw a very large animal who was covering an abnormally large amount of ground in a short amount of time. He describes the animal as to cover about fifteen to twenty feet in just two strides, while not running. The creature made absolutely no noticeable noise. He mentions what he saw was the creature standing seven to seven and a half feet tall and an estimated five hundred pounds in weight. He describes the creature as being muscular and covered with dark fur, with long arms and hunched over posture. The deer hunter states that the creature moved quickly down the hillside and was gone in just a few seconds. Like both of the above incidents, it happened in a wooded area which provides plenty of coverage for the…

It’s November, so that means its deer season. Every year deer season starts on the second weekend of November and last for ten days. I get really excited around August because during this time my family and I start exploring the woods looking for signs of deer. We look for signs like scrapes on trees, footprints, and tall grass that looks like it has been laid on and flattened. We set salt blocks out around our tree stands and set our cameras out hoping to catch a picture of a big buck. After we finish all the preparing we wait until the first week of November. During the first week of November we go back to our stands, check the salt blocks, set new blocks out, and grab our cameras to take back home. Once we get home we look at the pictures…

I was tired and my face was numb; I forgot my face mask at my uncle’s house. I wasn’t in any rush to get home but the wood stove and my comfortable bed was a pleasing thought. The headlight on my snowmobile was only shining about ten feet in the distance when a giant moose stepped out in front of me. I immediately pulled my breaks, but it was too late to avoid contact. I was looking up at the towering moose; ready to fly forward all I could think about is how to survive this situation. My body became calm and everything went quiet. Then all of a sudden the big hooves came crashing down just…

The trail continued around the east side of the lake entering a gathering of trees forming an insignificant forest along the lake’s shoreline. From our viewpoint, the trees concealing the trail eventually dispersed on the southeast side of the lake, and the trail blended into the landscape. Using our imagination, we envisioned the route against the rugged terrain sloping into the lake. No point in taking a vote now, we had trekked to the lake and the consensus was to proceed with a lap around the lake.…

Everyone has their own community or organization for which they belong to. Within that community you tend to find who you are and what you are about. For me I found my identity in being an outdoors man. Being an outdoors man at my young age seems to be rare at this day, but that doesn’t prevent me from doing something I love and appreciate. Growing up with my family full of avid outdoors men helped influence me and only made my identity stronger.…

Growing up in rural Kansas was boring. Especially since I grew up in the seventies. There were no cell phones or game systems to occupy my time. My family had an old black and white television set. I loved to watch The Price is Right in the days before Bob Barker’s hair turned white. After the show was over, the only way to kill time was to play outside and wander down to the creek that ran parallel to our property. There was a secret trail buried in the wall of trees that lined our two acre yard. My brother and I would slide down the trail, landing on the dirt banks like explorers on a mission. Sometimes we would hunt for crawdads under rocks. Other times we would take our poles and fish. We never went into the water after the time I got bit by a gar.…

We set up and went to bed early. I could hardly sleep. The whole night is kind of a blur, but the next morning around 5:00, my dad woke me up and we all set out into the darkness. Hiking up to the area where we thought the elk would be, we saw a huge, 8 point bull elk, but it was before shooting light and we had to let him run off. After this, my dad and I found a small meadow in and sat down to wait for shooting light. As the meadow filled with light, we heard tons of shots all around, but mostly down the hill below us, we saw nothing, so after an hour or so, we moved on. After a while trekking through some thick brush, we found a clearing. The cycle of hiking, waiting, and seeing nothing repeated itself a few times. Then, in the closing minutes of daylight, we came across Kotchwar, who had downed a cow elk an hour before. We all headed back to the spike camp. Kotchwar headed back to the main camp, and my dad and me felt some disappointment watching him leave, but this had happened before and my dad had gotten an elk, so we had hope. We made these horrible MRE like things for dinner and went to bed, feeling optimistic for the coming…
