Personal Narrative: The Day I Moved In Iowa
When I lived in Iowa, I thought nothing would change. We lived near our grandparents, and saw them at least once a week. I had lots of friends and saw them practically every day. The last thing on my mind was moving.

On the day we moved it was literally the hottest day of the year. When I learned we were moving, I was very sad, knowing I probably wouldn't see my friends again. The day we moved we were all very sad. Our grandparents came with us to help us move all our furniture. Almost immediately, I met our neighbors, and made friends. Even though I had made friends, I was still super nervous for my first day of school. I didn't think I would make any friends. It turns out, I met my old friend from Iowa’s family friend, and we became best

My father worked in the United States Marine core during my adolescent years, and because of it we were constantly moving around. I believe it made me more of an adaptable person, however once I met whom I considered my best friend moving around was not so fun anymore. I’ve always been more of a quiet person so meeting friends was not easy for me, and the few I had were as close to me as family. Moving to Philadelphia from Virginia was very traumatic for me at that age. My parents told me that I would have many meaningful people come in and out of my life as time went on, but at the time I figured I would never find another friend like the one I had. After months of being in a very depressive state I became very close friends with our neighbor’s daughter whom is still one of my closest…

Did you know I recently moved from Tennessee to Nebraska? When I moved to Nebraska, everyone told me how flat Nebraska was, how it was full of fields. In my mind I was reminded of Tennessee with its family owned farms that could stretch for several acres. I realized that though Tennessee and Nebraska are hundreds of miles away they are very similar.…

Kansas is oddly similar to Nebraska in the sense that it is all corn and wheat fields. The only difference between them is the things to do. Being near a military base, there was always a picnic filled with chuckles from family and friends, or a lake party. Even getting together to put a slab of meat on the grill for a BBQ was never out of the ordinary. It was easy to find something fun to do, without causing trouble. Moving to Nebraska, life was a little different. There was a little less to do around town after living there for a while, but if you're just visiting it could actually…

As a child I have always wanted to help other people. When I was 8 my parents decided to separate. At the time, my mother decided to move my sister and I away from Chicago. My mother packed our luggage and decided to move us to Detroit. That wasnt the only time we moved, we moved four times while I was growing up, all over the country and even to another continent. Eventually we had to leave our mom in Nigeria and my sister and I went to Detroit. When we got to Detroit my aunt didn't hesitate to make us feel comfortable. It was just something about it,I still didn't feel right. I called my mother one day crying to her and explaining how we didn't like being there. After talking to her, I felt that it was time to go back to Chicago. I called my dad, (knowing I haven’t spoke/seen him for many years) and explained to him the situation on how we felt uncomfortable in Detroit.…

Who could've thought moving states could cause such a change? I never knew it could… this much. As the for sale was ripped out of my yard, we returned back into my previous house. This was the day we moved to hot and big Texas. We hauled all our boxes, big and small, short and tall, into the moving truck. “Let's go,” my mom yelled. We started our journey to Texas, and I could already feel sorrow in my heart.…

In life everyone has heard words that just stick with them. The words that make you think twice about how you feel about certain situations. The words of encouragement i remember the most are from my dad. For example, The time i didn’t want to relocate to Indiana. I listened to him and i’m very happy that i did relocate.…

Thinking back on it now, Alaska was an important part of my life, having lived there for the majority of the time I’ve been alive. The small town of Eagle River was a great place to live, even if it gets very cold in the winter. Since I’ve lived there for so long, I learned how to make my way around from Point A to Point B without much hassle and figured out how easily friends can come if you try. Where I lived in a neighborhood that wasn’t too far away from a safeway, so I could walk there and do some errands for my folks, and maybe do some shopping for myself as well. There was a park just across the way, which is where I spent most of my days if I wasn’t being a lazy nerd at my computer. If the summer wasn’t rainy, it…

It’s terrifying all because this stupid lot a crossed the street that is full of trash that smells terrible all the time like something died. I’ve only lived here for about a month and my apartment stinks like a wet dog and I can’t get rid of it. Most of the time I grab my Febreze and use the whole can but it only smells like roses for about an hour. So the next day I decided to do something about it because it was starting to drive my family crazy.…

I lived here in Worland since kindergarten and I had great friends here. When I moved to washington all of that changed. This made me very sad because no one knew me personally and I didn’t know how the flow of things went. I felt a lot of depression and was often sick. What hurt the most was that no one care because no one knew me that well. I did even talk to my step-brother while I was there.…

On a warm sunny summer day, my family and I were preparing to leave our home in California to set out on a long trip to Wisconsin where our family would stay there for good. I had moved before in my life, but that was when I was 3. This was a much bigger deal, as I had been living there for 7 or 8 years. On my last day, I spent most of it spending time with one of my very good friends. Looking back on it, it was a good way to spend that last day, but more could have been done within the subsequent weeks. After getting back from being with my friend, my entire family and even a few more friends were all taking part in moving a lot of our stuff into cars and trucks. Yes, cars and trucks. California to Wisconsin, somewhere around 2000 miles. The bold…

College move-in day is right around the corner, and I’ve been reflecting on educators that touched me in a special way.I never had a favorite principal until…..In the eighth grade, my Middle School got a new principal. I didn't know too much about her, other than most of my friends had her as their principal in elementary school. I remember the first day I met her. I was late to school, as I was very often because my daycare van got me there late(that's another story for my mom to tell) I went down one walk way and she used another. When she got there before I did, she said "haha I beat you". Now that probably meant nothing to her, but it meant the world to me. I thought,"Wow, she has all these kids and noticed I took the long way, and she…

It was August 8th when were scheduled to get on a plane to Tyler, Texas. Texas seemed like a nice place to live. The town I moved too was pretty big it was bigger than Rockford. We didn’t explore much at first our parents worked while we got all the boxes in the house unpacked and continued to work on our own rooms. We went out on our first night there to eat and there was very many choices to pick from seeing how big the town was. The people there seemed very nice and I thought to myself maybe this won’t be as bad as I thought it would be. But the real test would be when school started. We visited the school the next week for registration and to take a picture for my school id. The school was huge it was setup just like a college campus. It was nothing like Freeport High School. It was way bigger and a lot more students. It was very diverse also. The first day of school I was given a map and I’m thinking to myself this was going to be a very long two years. I never made any real friends; the school was so huge it was rare that you saw the same person you met twice in one day unless you had more than one class with them. I was lonely and quiet for most of the year the kids there seemed to have already established there friends and weren’t looking to make any new ones. But I just minded my own business I’ve met many people but it seemed they didn’t want to make any friends. It was very hard for me because most of my life I’ve known people and always had people to hang out with and talk to. It was very hard for me to move away from all my friends and family, one of the hardest things in my life. It was worse because I was already a…
