The Journey of My Hockey Life Right now, in my life, I am on the bandwagon of a hockey players dream. I have been playing this godly sport for over 15 years, and at this moment, I am currently playing hockey for the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks, who have encouraged me to attend Cuyahoga Community College better known as Tri-C, to take core classes. The Lumberjacks are part of the tier 3 American Hockey League that has guys from ages of 18 through 21, making it more precise and fast paced. Playing Jr. Hockey takes up more time than you can imagine, forcing me to take only two classes, Math and English. Both Math and English are on a Tuesday and Thursday for me, starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 2:15 p.m. After English class, the gym is the place to be and when I say “gym”, I mean the Strongsville Recreational Center. I feel like if I didn’t go to the gym on a daily basis I would be more aggravated and stressed out with …show more content…
everything going on in my life and in the world in general. I believe it is my place to relax and concentrate on what I need to do in life to succeed, making it my second home.
I was born and raised in Cleveland Ohio but I am currently living in Brook Park Ohio, in a nice little house with my mother and brother. My house has its very own bar and built in pool that I enjoy to the fullest. I don’t really have time to be there as often as I would like but when I am not at home swimming, eating or sleeping, I am at Tri-C learning or at hockey getting bigger, faster, and stronger. Right now in life, I feel like everything I am doing, like; Tri-C, Jr. Hockey, and the gym is my set journey in life to succeed with my future. When asked about the future, I can only think of two things that really come to mind that I truly care about. Those two things are; a job and a loving family.
To achieve my future job and loving family I have to overcome all of life’s unexpected challenges.
With these challenges comes great grief, like getting good grades at Tri-C and transferring out to Niagara University. Niagara University has always been the college of my dreams and it, being such a hard goal to come about, is the goal that I must seek to achieve in my future. Attending Niagara next year would mean the world to me, not only to get an education in athletic training there but to also play Division 1 NCAA hockey for them. Playing hockey for Purple Eagles means I am one step closer to my future goal in life and that is to make it into the NHL. At Niagara I am going to take the same work ethic that I currently have now and that’s school work and the gym. I will only achieve my future if I keep working hard in life and that means staying in school to make myself a smarter student and going to the gym to stay away from the distractions that I don’t need to achieve my ultimate goal of the
NHL.
Making the NHL would mean I am living part of my dream but not living it all. To fulfill the rest of my dream, would be to have a loving family that I get to see day in and day out weather I have the time or not. I know it is hard to predict the future in all, but I do know someday I will meet the girl of my dreams that I will marry and have a family with. In all honesty, having a family life is the joy in life itself, especially if it includes me being in the NHL. If my future does come true on making it pro, I wish I could be living in the same city as I grew up in and knowing this is unlikely really takes a toll on me. I would love to be around all the people I grew up with and have all of my family nearby for the rest of my life, but with my future and the journey I am currently on, I don’t see myself being able to ever come back to the place I love most and that’s here in Ohio.
