Personal Narrative: The School Soccer Team
Every day, when Lauren got back from school she would go to her soccer ball and practice moves, juggling, and passing. A long time passed by, approximately six weeks. Lauren knew the school soccer team would be having a practice after school. She purposely missed the bus to go to their practice to show the coaches how much she has improved. When Lauren opened her locker to grab her things she saw a note. She opened it up, and it read, “just to let you know, the soccer ball isn’t magical anymore.” Lauren completely forgot! She didn’t know that the whole time she was using that magical ball. Lauren still did want to show the coaches her new skills, if she actually had any. When the team got outside Lauren found the coaches. She slowly walked

Going into Sunday we had to beat South Portland by two goals and not let them score. We ended up tying them 3-3 and we got eliminated because Winslow beat Westbrook 4-0.…

Monday afternoon, two girls, Riley and Diane, were at Get Air playing Dodgeball. They weren’t being conscientious of their throws, they were just playing around and not actually following the rules. They would go on each others side and would miss each other from just a few feet away. If they got hit or caught the ball, which was rare, they would just continue playing and not really care. You could tell the two girls weren’t honestly trying incredibly hard, but you could still assume that neither of them were that great at it. Sometimes they would kick the ball at each other instead of throwing it. During this game they were somewhat lackadaisical. They were the only two playing and they were having fun, so it was ok that they weren’t following the rules.…

It had been a long and tough game. The sun was beating down on us and we were all tired when all of a sudden the game’s time limit ran out. We were all tense because no one knew the score. The ref said that the game was tied. We all exhaled. We hadn't even realized we were holding our breaths. That meant we all had to do PKs (Penalty kicks) until one team won.…

"France has lost the battle. But France has not lost the war."- Charles de Gaulle. That is a quote I go by as I stand here at the Soccer Academy. I have a memory that really has affected me. That one really embarrassing moment. I have lost my soccer game eleven to four. Those numbers affect the way I play now even though it was about a month ago.…

When I was ten years old I tried out for my local travel soccer team. I did not expect to make it, but by some stroke of luck I did. I started playing and it was not what I was expecting. In the past I averaged a hat trick every game, but travel soccer was a lot different. I started playing defense, but that might be an overstatement, because I did not get a whole lot of minutes. I knew that if I wanted to play more I was going to have to put in more work outside of practice. I started practicing everyday switching from running, to foot skills, to agility training. I probably spent more time complaining about it and there were a few time that my parents had to push me to practice, but I knew that I had to put in the work.…

It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

Last year, it was my first year when I work in the female soccer team from my old high school. This was a soccer team where I was a goalkeeper trainer. This team was the high school soccer team representing the local High school. The purpose for our team was to win all the games against other schools, another of our goals was to have fun and to stay active; my personal goal was to train the goalkeepers the best I can and make them better soccer players. The best reward we all get was the feeling of been the winning team, the feeling that we all get after realizing how hard work has paid off. That is always the best feeling, to win games. The best reward I get personally is just to know that I trained the goalkeeper the right way, and they had…

It was winter season and that meant basketball. This year was special because I got to play for Davidson Day’s seventh and eight-grade team. See at our school the middles school ran through 5th to 8th. The middle school basketball teams were divided into a 5th-6th-grade team and a 7th 8th grade team. This season was different; we would play more games and different teams. Also we got a new coach and older teammates. Tryouts were rough; the older kids were picking on the 7th graders constantly. I was the only one they liked because I was good. The season got even worse. The 7th graders never played in the games and sometimes in the locker room older kids would yell at us for messing up. This was horrible to watch and be apart of.…

“Cameron, you can’t play football you’ll die,” My mother told me in her usual serious tone, I could always count on my mom to keep it 100% reality even though I hated it. I wanted to play football so bad for three years I've literally had dreams of me playing defensive back, my wishful position, and being able to play with my emotions and do very well. Starting soccer when I was only five years old was challenging because of my October birthday I had to play with all the six year olds. My parents had put me in soccer because I was a young boy filled with too much energy. After playing soccer for about a year I decided I wanted to do more, I loved the sport. I started playing club soccer when I was 7 years old, playing for under the wing of Charley Amblo. This was a training team only, it was not till I was nine that I was started playing for a travel team. This was the beginning of where I learned my leadership, time management, and teamwork dynamics.…
