Personal Narrative: Walking To The Summerside Beach Club
My sister and I were walking to the Summerside Beach Club to play basketball for a couple of hours. This was a daily routine for both us. Everyday we would come home, red, sweaty, and tired. My sister got me interested in basketball a few years ago. Ever since then, I loved basketball.

As soon as we entered the gates of the Club, I saw an empty basketball net and immediately while my sister was following me. As soon as we got there, we began to play one-on-one half court. About ten minutes into the game, I felt my legs and brain collapsing and the ball sliding out of my hands, missing the basket completely. A moment later, I sensed my hands on the cold cement. Everything went black in my brain and body couldn't function, so I was lying there

I have been playing basketball basically my whole life, it is has shaped me into the person I am today. I started with just a ball and a hoop in my cousins front yard. I would just chuck the ball at hoop for fun, horsing around with my cousins. In elementary and middle school I would play with my friends at recess shooting around, dribbling in circles for the fun of it. I was even better then most of the boys who would play with my group on the courts. When I entered high school that was when I realized I was truly in love with the game. High school was where it was taken to a whole 'nother level. I was introduced to the real dynamics of the sport, it was where I learned that if I really want to do something that I love I had to put my all into it. I had to prove that I was one-hundred percent committed to the game. Practicing everyday for two hours, and…

I have many hobbies, but I like basketball the most. Basketball is like my best friend. The first time I played it, I felt interested. I was so interested in playing basketball after watching my brother play, however, I started learning when I was 9 years old. So I kept doing it. Even if I didn't win, my coaches alway said "You can't win, unless you learn how to lose." When I was in 5th grade my brother inspired me to do that. I…

I remember the day vividly: the sizzling of food frying, children yelling, my tears running, it was the first time I adventured to Six Flags. The uneasiness of my stomach while swaying tens of feet from the ground on the Texas Giant petrified the adventurous spirit out of me. However, I did not realize that moment `would shape the next eight years of life, emerging in my memory at every unfamiliar experience I faced. It was my senior year when I declined an invitation to go camping with my friends an epiphany struck me. How many of these opportunities was I going to skip out on due to my reluctant manner?…

It was just a boring day in my hometown, a traditional, weak entrance a lot of narrative stories use to try to get the attention of the readers. This story, however, isn’t one of those traditional stories; this one involves a day that had been exciting up to that point already. The memory that resonates daily throughout my mind would have to be the time when I went to Six Flags for the first time in my life. Before I jump into my story, I should tell you my friends mess with each other a lot, almost to the point where we get into fights with each other.…

When one thinks of summer, it immediately comes to mind the sight of sandy beaches, amusement parks and hot sunny days. Coney Island, an extravagant vacation playground to visit especially for the summer. I have recently had an opportunity to come to such a wonderful place that the sights are still engraved in my mind. There were other attractions that I have missed out on mainly since I had only one day there. If time was not an issue, I would have definitely visited more programs that they provide. Getting there is also not a problem due to their cheap and handy subway system. One thing to be cautioned about is that it can get extremely busy on the weekends, so the best time to be there would be on the weekdays, especially if you do not want…

I have never really been interested in basketball or most sports for that matter, until a few years ago. My husband would watch all of the college and professional basketball games on television. He would become especially excited during March madness and the NBA playoffs and the Finals. He used to play basketball until a knee injury ended that. For some reason he still found excitement watching the games.…

One horrible day, about 3 or 4 years ago. I woke up and all of the feeling in my legs were gone. I tried to get out of bed but my bed is a top bunk with a desk underneath it so It was hard to get out of bed. I tried to use my legs but they were lifeless. They wouldn't move so it was all upper body strength getting down from my bed. Finally, I got down from my bed tried to walk but I couldn’t. So all I could do is yell, so I started screaming “Dad! Dad!” Then I blacked out. I woke up a while later in the car, when I asked my dad where we were going he said the doctors. I looked at the time on my phone, It was 9:30!! At this time I was living in Florida. My school started at…

It was finally November 17th and the first morning of two-a-day basketball practice. I had been looking forward to the season and was fixed on finding a spot in the starting lineup. Despite my determination, I was out of shape after having been home sick for the past month. During one of the drills I became very light-headed and fell and hit my head on the hard-wood court. Immediately, I jumped up and tried to continue practicing. I finished the practice and made my way to first hour with a dizzying and distracting brain-spike. I fought through the rest of the day and immediately went to sleep when I arrived at home that afternoon. That next morning I woke up to the thunderous sound of my alarm, but as soon as I opened my eyes I saw the…

On April 27th2003 my wife (Sara) and I spent our first Anniversary on the Santa Monica Pier in California. There was a carnival going on with a giant Ferris wheel. Tables and booths lined the pier. The aroma of cotton candy and popcorn mixed with the saltiness of the ocean air. As we walked my wife became fascinated by a man painting. He was painting on mirrors, just not with brushes or cans. He was using his finger nails. As the man painted her eyes lit up and a smile widened on her face she did not dare look away until the man was done. Though only a few minutes passed that was all it took for him to paint an ocean scene at sunset.…

I was playing dodge ball. Usually I'm not very good at it, but one day, I was the last one on the court, and someone threw the ball at me. At that moment, I felt like the end was near. I heard mixed yells from my friends; yells of "Run" and "Catch it!" I almost felt the ball hitting my face as it was coming toward me! I closed my eyes! I heard a loud bang, not unlike a ball hitting someone. First, there was silence, then yells and cheers! I didnt't feel any pain. I realised that since I hadn't felt any pain, I had probably died. Well, I lived a good life. It had seemed that my death had been inevidable to me. I opened my eyes and looked down, expecting to see my body, lying on the floor. but it wasn't. 'That's strange', I thougt, I looked at…

As I felt myself retrieving my gun from my jacket I stopped as I realized the only way to get my sister back was to get caught. And with that I threw myself to the ground, hitting my head on a nearby rock. I hear muffled voices surrounding me as I stumble to my feet. As I’m getting up I sense someone walking up to me. Just as my vision clears, I see a shadow coming towards my face. I felt a balled fist make contact with my jaw. I feel the blood vessels burst in my bottom lip as I fall to the ground. My breath instantly left me for dead as I felt their foot collide…

I got a ride home from school just like any other ordinary day in October of 2013. It was more than two years ago but I still remember every unpleasant moment, starting from when I walked in the door. My sister, Kaitlyn, sat on the couch in our living room yelling at her phone, who I soon found out was my mom. This wasn’t surprising for me since they had been arguing all Summer due to our move to Hawaii in June. However, what came next would shock me and scar our relationship for several years to come.…
