Personal Narrative: Why I Got To College

I was placed on Academic Probation after my freshmen spring semester, I went to College with a new set of freedom I never had before and did not know how to adjust to my new freedom well. I come from a very large blended family and my parents worked very hard to provide for all of us, my mom had worked multiple jobs and was trying to continue her education so she would leave for work very early and would come home very late. That left the cooking, cleaning and tending to my younger brother to me all while I was a high school student, working 2 jobs and playing softball. With all that being said when I got to college I did not focus on school because for the first time in 4 years all I had to worry about was me and that was a strange relief
but also it took away the structure I had installed in myself. I was super social and focused more on social events than I did on school. I learned within the next two years that I had not been performing the way I needed to and decided to focus more on school and less on my socializing skills. All throughout college I had worked at least 1 if not 2 jobs to provide for myself and I am finally at the state in my life where I know exactly what I want to be and will be taking the time to focus on school alone and not a full-time job.
