Because of these personal discoveries, I began to dream of my own potential success story. I applied to the University of Mount Royal and was later offered admission within two programs: English and Journalism. I realized that through assiduous toil, I can make myself special and known in this world. Life was too short and dear, and to leave this world unknown to others, just an ordinary man that lived his life was not an option that I was willing to accept. I did not want to have the same job as others, the same insipid family as others, the same dull lifestyle as others, and the same death as others. “No,” I said. I won’t die in this world without my name engraved in people’s soul, without my thoughts and ideas influencing many generations to come. I will be special through hard work and achieve glory and success. With success, I will spread my fame throughout many generations to come. I will be remembered. My ideas will be discussed and debated among others. My thoughts will be used as a tool for motivating young minds. I will be a role model and a symbol of success. Life is a onetime chance, and I intend to not lose it but use it to my full extent. It is utterly terrifying to live and die like…

Since the beginning of my academic endeavors, I have long cherished a dream to be a member of the social science research community, which gives our society progressive insights into human ecology. I began my undergraduate studies at Ramapo College of New Jersey with a passion for ecological justice and with the intention of majoring in environmental studies. Ramapo College's progressive liberal arts foundation provided me with ample room to explore the multifarious array of social science courses. As I took more social science courses, however, my understanding of human social groups underwent a metamorphosis. As a result, I decided to pursue a degree in Social Science, with minors in the two fields I felt most passionately interested in, Women's Studies and African American Studies.…
