The CAP program s very intriguing to me and I hope to get better at musical theatre wise, and I also feel by being in CAP, there are some skills that will help me in school life. For example, project management. A production is basically a business project. You have groups of people making one team and working to successfully accomplish a task on time, on budget in such a way that you feel a sense of accomplishment once the final product
is preformed. Another example is hard work. I remember creating a tree for the Secret Garden and we didn’t know how to do it at first but we made an amazing life-like tree that emerged from the stage. My team mates and I cut out each and every leaf and individually hot-glued them to the branches of the tree. And a few days later we tore it down, threw it out, and got ready for the next production. And that taught us to always put 100% effort into your work because the final product comes out so well if you do put the effort in. For my 7-10 hours per week, I will participate in the plays and musicals every year, I will also do voice lessons every week, and practice voice and acting techniques after school. I would like to accomplish new vocal techniques and also how to embody a character that I play a role as. My portfolio is an array of musicals I have done. The first video clip is from Oliver, I did this show in 2014, and I played the role of Oliver. The second clip in my portfolio is when I preformed in, “A Night On Broadway”, directed by Peter Schuller. I was Mary from The Secret Garden. A Night On Broadway was basically a musical review with a variety of songs from a variety of musicals. The third clip is also from A Night On Broadway, I was Elphaba and sang “What Is This Feeling” from Wicked. And the final clip is of a scene I did in 8th grade from Mulan. I hope from seeing these clips you understand that I am a very experienced singer and actor. In conclusion, I think the CAP program is a good fit for me because I have always loved singing and acting and I feel that CAP will help me in numerous ways, like learning new techniques, learning from other people, and learning from performance we go to. I will contribute a new and fresh voice in the musical theatre field.
