Persuasive Animal Shelter Speech
Almost three million cats and dogs are killed each year in shelters that do not have the room to accommodate for all these animals not being adopted. Seeing these sweet and innocent animals be stuck in shelters for months to years is heartbreaking so I decided to do something about it. I adopted my dog from a local shelter, Pawsitive Impact Pet Rescue, and shortly after I began to volunteer there. Since then, I have helped many dogs and seen many find their forever home. The feeling you have when you find a dog a home and get to witness them be happy and loved is one of the most rewarding feelings you will ever experience. Nothing compares to the elation you see in a dog’s eyes when you take them to their home visit and they realize that this is where they will spend the rest of their days. I truly believe that I would not be the same person I am today if it was not for making the decision to do something for these animals. …show more content…
It is a bully breed dominated shelter, meaning the majority of the dogs that are brought to us are pitbull and bulldog type breeds, those are also the dogs that are left in the shelters the longest. They are loyal dogs that are shadowed by a violent stereotype, keeping them from finding homes, and I am determined to break this mindset that many people have. During my time there so far; I have done lots of in-shop work, cleaning dogs and their cages, walking them and giving the attention they need. Outside of the shop, I help at adoption events and help run social media accounts to promote the dogs and help them find homes. All the effort and work that is put into helping these animals is more than worth it when they do finally find their forever

My personal argument is this, my wife and I adoption a dog from our local shelter and after that they keep sending us emails of hurt animals that need good homes. I understand they need good homes but we can’t take any more animals in. The media is helping theses shelters pull on the heart strings of animal lovers by sending emails that show images of hurt animals and stated that if we don’t adopt any more than they would be youthonized. This was not our first dog from a shelter but my conclusion is after the countless emails that are about 6 a day I have decided not to adopt any more from this place. It…

You have heard it countless times before. “Pit bulls are heartless monsters!” Or you may have heard the ever famous claim, “Pit bulls are killers, dangerous, and keep your kids away from them!” But there are people like me out there that believe they are not monsters. They are just misunderstood. Training and discipline techniques from a young age are all it takes to have a lovable pit bull that wouldn’t hurt a fly.…

Sabrana our dog was one example of your rescues we have had. We had found Sabrana on the highway helpless, unwanted. My mother at the time had not told my dad nor anybody else to help her out to rescue Sabrana. She simply chased the dog and got her in her car. She drove home with her and ever sense took care her like a daughter until she died. My mother and I have seen and rescued dogs, bringing them back where they are most comfortable. She had kept another animal, a cat by the name of Tia that she rescued. I would want other people to rescue animals like my mother did so the animals will not…

It all began when a was a little boy and all I wanted was a dog, for years I begged and begged, and still no dog. I felt as if I was incomplete without one, I had even written persuasive essays in school on why I should get a dog and waited and just hoped for it. Finally, when I was in 5th grade, I found a church ministry where we met once month and came up with ideas to raise money for the local rescue. During the meetings, we would also go for a walk, those who had animals would walk them. One time, somebody from the rescue came with one of the rescue dogs for the walk, which inspired me to go to the rescue and check it out.…

I walked, and fed the animals, cleaned their room, played with the puppies and did whatever other jobs that was needed to be done. I learned more about the care of the animal, and seeing how the shelter could make a difference for the animals there. My favorite part of the volunteering is walking the dogs because I really got attached to one of the dog. It was a golden retriever mixed and his name was Patrick. He was a very loud at first but after I got to know him he was a likeable dog. By giving the dogs an opportunity to run through an expanse of grass, it really instills that trust and love. Overall, this volunteering experience has taught me a lot about taking care of animals. Working with the shy dogs taught me to be patient and gentle. Even though the progression is slow, the dog will eventually gain trust and…

As the single child in a family with working parents, I spent the most time of my childhood living and hanging around with my dog. This experience might be one of the reasons that I am very compassionate to animals and sensitive to people’s needs. My voluntary work is in a welfare house called Alenah's home. I love working there because I like seeing the smile face of the children there – even some autism babies don’t smile facially, I believe they can feel the love when being caressed softly.…

What people don’t realize is that thousands of dogs and cats get put to death because people don’t adopt them and they overfeed them. Thousands of loving dogs get put to death or sleep because people don’t want to care for their animals. People just want to overfeed their animals “simply because people keep breeding more and more puppies to try to make money, and other people reward them for this by paying them for these puppies when they could instead save an innocent dog from death by adopting. People who buy puppies at pet shops fund the cruelty of puppy farms where the breeding dogs are cruelly abused and inhumanely killed. Some breeders use the method known as drowning to inhumanely kill unsold or imperfect puppies.”…
