Persuasive Essay On Energy Drinks
An increasingly popular option for a quick way to get a boost in energy is the energy drink. Lots of advertisements may be seen in many places stating that this product will give the consumer more energy, but does it? According to the Webster dictionary, an energy drink is defined as: “A usually carbonated beverage that typically contains caffeine and other ingredients intended to increase the drinker's energy.” These types of drinks are advertised to enhance sports performance and overall mental concentration and focus. These drinks work in that the user experiences the effects of caffeine and sugar, but there isn't any sufficient evidence that the other ingredients in these drinks provide any further benefits. This contrasts the way that these drinks are advertised. A study was done on some students in grades 8,10, and 12, and their use of caffeine. Thirty percent of the teenagers reported using energy drinks, as well as energy shots. The kids that consumed the most amount of caffeine, also had a much higher percentage of using drugs in the past thirty days. In the essay, a statement is used from researchers in Colorado, “Caffeine consumption during adolescence produced changes in the NAc that are evident in adulthood and may contribute to increases in cocaine-mediated behaviors.” There were several other links to studies that suggest that energy drinks should be considered a gateway drug and increase the chances of the user using illicit drugs. As well as an increased chance of using illicit drugs, an overindulgence of caffeine can lead the user to experience nervousness, sleeplessness, irritability, increased urination, abnormal heart rhythms, and

As individuals of society we are continuously and subconsciously affected by media’s tactics to persuade us into falling victim into their marketing schemes. Witty yet brilliant individuals cough up slogans that will inevitably affect many consumers to come. The advertisement that initially captured my attention was the Gatorade Sports Drink Commercial. To start off, the advertisement contained text and visuals that demonstrated that Gatorade is a necessity to succeed in athletics. Moreover, the commercial demonstrated with the assistance of Nba Stars Dwayne Wade and Kevin Durant, you need the nutrients that Gatorade provides in order to compete in sports and to become the ultimate athlete and champion. I believe this ad creates limitations and viewers are led to believe that they must consume Gatorade due to the…

Caffeine can be found in many different available beverages, such as, coffee, tea, soda, and energy drinks of course. Many people do not recognize that caffeine can be toxic at certain dosages, and lead to very serious health risk. Tan-Li Hsu the author of “High on Caffeine: Regulating Energy Drinks” effectively argues the merit of providing warnings for caffeine content on all drink labels that has this highly addictive drug. The demand for the product is increasing all across the United States. Hsu shows the negative influences of caffeine on the everyday life of Americans, especially that of a teenagers. Hsu explains that since the introduction of Red Bull to the American market in 1997 the market has since skyrocketed. Over the last decade, drinks containing high amounts of caffeine, sugar, and other ingredients that increase energy have been rapidly growing in popularity. Clearly these beverages are known as energy drinks. Energy drinks have gotten so popular that it is extremely rare to find a convenience store that doesn’t sell a variety of them. Students use energy drinks to cram the night before a test, athletes use them to exercise, party animals mix them with alcohol to drink more than humanly possible, and some people just drink them to stay awake at work after a sleepless night. Apparently Red Bull gives you wings, but what other side-effects can these sugary, over-caffeinated drinks cause? Many people have been asking this question lately, wondering how harmful drinking them really is. Despite that consuming a large amount of the drink may be dangerous, as long as people drink energy drinks responsibly they are relatively safe.…

My research paper topic is “Sugary drink tax”. When I just started working on my research paper I thought that sugary drinks should be taxed, but I changed my mind during the research. I find a lot of information regarding sugary drink tax and read a debate on one of the websites. A majority of people are against a tax on sugary drinks and they have very strong arguments. They say that they don’t want the government to play nanny and tell them what to do. It is not fair to tax sugary drinks and don’t tax other products containing sugar. I think that government should lower the price on healthy snacks, fresh juices, and organic food. There will be no need for the additional tax to stop people from buying food which is for the health. Everybody…

It is pretty obvious these days that most people are addicted to cell phones. To get people more addicted companies try to put new things on cell phones that you could already do with some other device. Cell phones are able to use internet now, just like computers. People act like they cannot survive without a cell phone, if there was a quiz asking people what they would need to survive on an uninhabited island if they could only have a few resources I bet a cell phone would be number one on that list for most people. I also bet that coffee, chocolate or pop or maybe a combination of all three would be their number two desire. Because you see, coffee, chocolate and pop all contain the highly addictive stimulate named caffeine. My research and personal experiences have shown that addiction to caffeine is more dangerous than an addiction to one’s cell phone because caffeine can have an awful direct impact on your mind and body.…

Dated back to the 1400s and possible earlier people have been drinking caffeine to include coffee, tea, and chocolate. Today, caffeine is one of Americans’ favorite substance also including the soft drinks and the energy drinks. Per Hart and Ksir (2015) by 2009 Americans were consuming less caffeine; 45 gallons of soft drinks and 23 gallons of coffee when compared with 49 gallons of bottled water per person. Although declining, soft drinks and coffee are still a major part of American’s caffeine consumption, “it is estimated that 80 percent of Americans regularly use caffeine in some form,” (Hart & Ksir, 2015, p. 261). But the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not challenged its regulatory oversight on the caffeine use since the 1980s. Adults caffeine use is not of great concern by the FDA because there is no caffeine use disorder, the caffeine is responsible for long-term health benefits, and the caffeine is safe for most adults. Therefore, I consider the FDA current lack of restrictions on caffeine use sufficient and fair.…
