Anyone can adopt a kid, right? Nope, Apparently the LGBT community can not adopt even if they to want. LGBT can get married now, but can’t adopt. How is this fair? How does that make any sense? How is this equal rights? This should be common sense that it is a right for everyone, not a privilege only for straight people. The only reason someone should not be able to adopt is if they have a horrible criminal record such as a sex offender or a meth addict.
Some people argue that it is not the fact that they are gay, but the fact that is it for the child’s better welfare. Do we even have certain gender roles in 2015? Gender roles are just what society expects of us because of our gender. “In American culture, masculine roles have traditionally been associated with strength, aggression, and dominance, while feminine roles have traditionally been associated with passivity, nurturing, and subordination,”(Boundless). I find this very sexist, men and women can do anything they want. If a man wants to cook dinner, do the dishes, and do the laundry then why not let him. Also, if a woman wants to mow the lawn, fix the clogged drain, or even fight in the army why not let her. Just because you have a certain gender does not mean you will be better or worse at something. “Gender roles in the United States have changed drastically over time. There is no such thing as a universal, generalizable statement about gender roles,”(Boundless). Having two same-sex parents will not lead to gender confusion for the child because nowadays gender roles are very diverse and any gender can do anything, and guess what? It is
