Persuasive Speech On Animal Testing
A cruel world of suffering and a short life in a cage are what animals in testing have to endure everyday. The effects of animal testing may be disturbing, but it is clear as to why people want to put an end to it. Some of us are aware of the effects of animal testing but don’t know why or how it happens. A variety of animals are used in testing, including: mice, hamsters, guinea pigs, farm animals, dogs, birds, cats, rabbits, monkeys, and more breathe in poisonous fumes and have chemicals rubbed into their eyes and skin, leaving them blind or dead from the suffering. Rabbits test our mascaras and are left with their eyes and their skin burning. Mice and hamsters have their eyes injected with chemicals to test for our safety. The chemical …show more content…

Cruelty-free means the ingredients or the finished product have at no point been tested on …show more content…
Despite all of the cruel suffering to these animals, there are a few benefits to the testing, With testing scientists are able to research new possible drugs and vacancies to be developed. New drugs and vacancies that could cure certain cancers and AIDS perhaps. But many diseases have seen little to zero progress despite the decades of animal testing done. The only way to move forward in this scientific field is to keep the research going. The advancements in technology could eliminate the use of animals in testing for biomedical research. We now have 21st century science that U.S environmental groups seem to ignore. There are Cell based tissue models, called Vitro Testing, where a variety of cell based tests and tissue models, that replicate human skin, can be used to assess the safety of drugs, chemicals, cosmetics, and consumer products. Research with human volunteers called Microdosing can provide information on the safety of an experimental drug and how it is metabolized in humans prior to large scale human

In today’s society, many people debate whether or not using animals in research is humane. An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the United States for scientific and commercial testing. [2] Proponents of animal testing state that it has enabled the development of numerous life-saving treatments for both humans and animals, while opponents state that animal testing is cruel and often yields irrelevant results because animals are so different from human beings. Many different animals are used in scientific studies such as rabbits, mice, primates, dogs, cats, pigs, and cows. I believe that animal testing is beneficial because it provides opportunities to improve the lives of both humans and animals.…

Animal testing, also known as animal experimentation, or in vivo testing, often uses non-human animals in experiments to test the safety of products and has been a topic of heated debate for decades. Although some research uses animals only for natural behaviors observation, F. Barbara Orlans claimed in her book, In the Name of Science: Issues in Responsible Animal Experimentation, that more than sixty percent of all animals used in animal testing suffer from experiment procedure or even get killed in biomedical research and product-safety testing. On the one hand, successful animal testing can lead to medical cures and treatments for human beings, on the other hand, opponents are doubting the reliability of animal…

Animal Testing is so painful for animals and they don't understand why they're being put through this pain. It is also very inhumane and morally offensive. Animal testing is cruel and an inhumane way to torture animals for mankind's own benefit. There have been millions of animals that have suffered a vicious, painful death in the name of research. Lastly there are alternatives to Animal Testing such as computer modeling, As science continues to transform our world beyond what we know, and technology continues to transform and expand upon what we depend on. Medical research and testing will also transition to embrace and…

In regards to humans, almost every major medical breakthrough in the last 100 years has been accomplished though testing on animals. The foundation for Biomedical Research states that “… practically every present-day protocol for the prevention, treatment, cure and control of disease, pain and suffering is based on knowledge attained through research with lab animals.” (Pro-Test). These medical breakthroughs…

As a result of this, nine out of every ten trial medicines that look safe and appear to be effective on animals, fail when they are given to humans. Because animals don’t react the same way as humans, not only do the failed tests delay medical progress, but also they are a waste of animal’s lives, and a waste of money that is spent into the research and tests. Animals have different anatomic, cellular, and metabolic structures than humans have. If a new product is passed just because it is safe on animals and isn’t on humans, that could be a very dangerous situation. One instance when this occurred was in 1950 when a sleeping pill worked on animals but when given to humans it caused 10,000 babies to be born with severe birth defects. Another time, a drug for arthritis was safe on mice but when administered to humans caused 27,000 heart attacks and sudden cardiac deaths. Animal testing can make researchers oversea potential cures and treatments. Some substances that are harmful to animals, are helpful to humans. For example, aspirin is dangerous to some animals. Arthur Allen says, “A source of human suffering may be the dozens of promising drugs that get shelved when they cause problems in animals that may not be relevant for humans.” (“Of Mice or Men: The Problems with Animal Testing”). Of all the medicines that pass animal trials and are ready for human…

Animal testing has unmistakably swept the globe in effort to further scientific exploration. It has been a useful tool of drug testing, cosmetic testing, xenotransplantation, behavioral education and other informative methodical studies. From the tens to one hundred million or more animals are used in scientific experiments around the world per annum (1). An estimated eighty to eight hundred animals are used to test one drug before it is considered safe for human consumption (1). Although some may have genuine concerns about animal testing- from relevance of data to ethics-many support it because the benefits of animal experimentation to human life far exceeds any negative aspects.…

The products we use everyday are a luxury that we are blessed to have and be able to use everyday. They are so easy to use and the benefits are so great that people don’t really care how they are made before they hit the shelves. But not many people think about all the tests that the product had to go through to get on the store's shelves. Not many people think about the negatives of the product and all the test that are done on ANIMALS. Animals that are tested on are put through medical tests that could potentially kill them or harm them extremely. The beauty product industry and scientist should find a new way to test their products and drugs without the endangerment to animals.…

There are three types of painful, deadly experiments that are performed on animals. The first is the Draize eye test. This test is mostly performed on rabbits to check for irritancy of shampoo, weed killers, pesticides, and detergents. The product is left in the animal’s eye for up to 14 days for observation, and it almost always results in blindness. The second test is the lethal dosage test. This test is used for testing of cosmetic products including lipstick, face wash, and nail polish. The procedure is performed in order to test the toxicity or irritancy of products in an attempt to determine how much of a chemical or substance it takes to kill an animal within a set time. The third test is used to determine skin toxicity. In this test, the animal is shaved and the toxic substance is absorbed into their skin. The animal is then analyzed for certain responses and reactions which are often unreliable. During the test, the animals are restrained so that they cannot lick their wounds for relief, and if the…

    Cosmetic Animal Testing

Animal testing is still done by cosmetic companies even though it is unethical and scientifically inaccurate. The various tests carried out on animals is not a guarantee for using cosmetics on our skin since animals react differently to certain chemicals as compared to humans. Cosmetics companies kill millions of animals every year in pursuit of profit. The animals that suffer and die in these laboratories range from rabbits to mice. According to companies that perform such tests, they are done to establish the safety of products and ingredients. However, no law requires that cosmetics products be tested on animals. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) “urges cosmetic manufacturers to conduct whatever tests are appropriate to establish that their cosmetics are safe” but “does not specifically mandate animal testing for cosmetic safety.” Likewise, products regulated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) do not have to be tested on animals. A summary of the CPSC’s animal-testing policy, as published in the Federal Register, states that “it is important to keep in mind that neither the FHSA [Federal Hazardous Substances Act] nor the Commission’s regulations require any firm to perform animal tests. The statute and its implementing regulations only require that a product be labeled to reflect the hazards associated with that product.” ("Cosmetics.")…

You see chemicals and special tools laid all over tables. You can see This is what an animal testing lab would look like. Each year more than 100 million animals-including mice, rats frogs, pigs, birds, monkeys, fish, cats, rabbits and more die from animal testing. Although no one will want to test on a real, human body, people can test on other things. With it being 2017, we have a lot of technology, and engineers could make a new technology so scientists could use those and leave animals out of the picture.…

Animal testing has been at the forefront of most advances in medical history. Without it, we would assuredly be ages behind where we are now in terms of medical sciences. Animal testing is a highly controversial topic with many opponents who would go out of their way to “liberate” these animals who were born for this reason, bred in captivity so as to do no damage to the species as a whole. The evidence supporting animal testing is insurmountable, but as with many arguments, for every logical explanation, there is an illogical counter.…
