However, in a lot of cases freezing fresh food can cause the food to undergo changes in chemical structures which may cause a decrease in nutritional value and loss of nutrients. In particular meat or other products with a high amount of salt often undergo oxidation and can go rancid quicker. In young adults proper nutrition is extremely important for repair and maintenance of the body tissues and their functions. (Potter &Perry, 2017, p1034). A survey conducted in the UK took a variety of different ready-made freezer meals from 10 supermarkets showed that 80% of these freezers meals tend to be high in saturated fat, sodium but often are low in sugar. In addition to this, these types of foods are high in calories and can make up anywhere between 10-30% of a person's daily recommended calorie intake. (Remnant, J. Adams, J, 2015). The changes are rapid and consist of the levels and composition of physical activity inactivity and dietary patterns. (Popkin, B.M, 2001). For one, dietary changes are involving increasing amounts of highly processed food and foods high in saturated fats, sodium, and sugar. A lack of physical activity means that no energy is being burnt due to exercise and with this and the frozen foods which commonly are high in caloric value, therefore calorie intake is greater than what is being burnt daily which equals weight gain. These are also a decreased amount of activity in a large percentage of people. Good nutrition needs to be achieved in addition to physical activity, none of which Pete partakes in. As well as the lack of physical activity he also drives to the local shops only 1.5km away which are within a reasonable walking distance. Exercise reduces the risk of coronary heart disease and reduces the vulnerability of the cardiac muscle to ventricular arrhythmia, as well is a vast range of other conditions; including lowering blood pressure, cholesterol and also decreasing risks of diabetes type 2. With no exercise and bad eating habits in his lifestyle this in increasing Pete's risk of developing these conditions or many others
