Online purchasing for men has increased from 57% in 2008 to 77% in 2016 and the percentage of women buying online has increased from 49% in 2008 to 75% in 2015. This shows a clear increase of online purchasing for both genders. Over the years, internet shopping has become increasingly more attractive for men as many men do not want to physically go out to shop for clothing as it is predominately a female passion, so the introduction of online shopping has aided men to stay up to date with fashion from the comfort of their own homes. Customers are also becoming increasingly more aware of the ethical side of shopping, such as if those making the clothing are being treated well; because of this, many online companies such as ASOS are making sure that the consumer knows how their clothing is being…

» The McCarthy hearings were trials in which Senator Joe McCarthy accused government employees of being Communists. He exaggerated and exploited the evidence and ruined many reputations. Blacklists were created and many employers refused to hire the suspected or accused. (If they did then they would be accused.) Due to the exaggerated evidence and the seriousness of the charges, the hearings struck fear in many Americans. Although at first popular, the public began to wonder how far it would go. After McCarthy accused the U.S. Army of housing Communists, his committee began to go down hill. The army strongly defended themselves as they sought to end McCarthy's "witch-hunts." In November of 1954 the Watkins committee censured McCarthy under two counts. The Senate voted to "condemn" him on December 22, 1954. This censure ended McCarthyism but could never undo all of the damage that it had caused.…

When I walk into the store I head straight to the Pink items. The Pink dog and the bright colors attract me to them. I’ve never thought of the Pink brand as being sexy at all. Bullshit Advertising

Victoria’s Secret is extremely lucky because its product, lingerie, is easy to advertise. Men love to see women in lingerie and women love to see new bras and panties. Then, Victoria’s Secret has that difficult job of taking gorgeous models with perfect bodies and putting them in these outfits. Naturally, every Victoria’s secret model looks great in the product, but that won’t be the case for all women. This is when the bullshit comes into play. “This lack of connection to a concern with the truth—this indifference to how things really are” is what Frankfurt describes as the true essence of bullshit (Frankfurt 33). As advertising should do, seeing these models look perfect each outfit creates a desire for people to buy the product. It is at this point that the non-supermodel consumer realizes that this lingerie does not fit her nearly the same as it fits the model. Many times, the fabric looks and feels different than expected and the fancy bras that have changeable straps are often too complicated to even figure out how to put one on. Even though it almost tricks people into buying its product, Victoria’s Secret will undoubtedly continue its method of advertising, and deception, just like Papa…
