Planned Parenthood Planning Assignment
For my research and message planning assignment, I chose to look further into Planned Parenthood as a non-profit organization. Planned Parenthood is an organization that has been around for over 100 years, as it was founded in October of 1916. Some of the many resources that are offered at these facilities are free or cheap access to women’s reproductive health- including papsmears, mammograms, and STD checks. Other services offered are access to abortion and contraception for all women; this is where the negative perception comes into play. It’s been a long and ongoing battle with separation of church and state, but somehow the the morality issues still play such a damaging role in the perception of what Planned Parenthood is really providing. …show more content…

First, I would seek out testimonials from women of all ages, ethnicities, and of services received from Planned Parenthood. Testimonials offer a tangible look into the good that has come from the access to these medical necessities for women and does so in a way that pertains to individuals who respond to pathos. Secondly, I would initiate more interaction and conversation with members of the Congress and try to find resolution or middle-ground in their perceptions of the organization. If communication is flowing and consistent, that is where understanding and new ideas can be …show more content…

There are many celebrities and public figures who already speak out on behalf of Planned Parenthood, and I would work to encourage more of that with the campaign. With this, I would propose a 3-6 part video series, each including a different celebrity figure, to speak towards the benefits of having access to facilities that want to promote women’s health and reproductive rights. I believe that with an organization like this, combating the negative perceptions will be an ongoing battle and new tactics and strategies will have to be addressed often. But, this is where I would start in that process.

In regards to my team, I am responsible for the media strategy presentation. I believe this assignment gave me better insight into what needs to be done for my group project, and I feel confident in the steps my team and I will take to provide a thorough representation of media and social media strategies and

The evaluation criteria I think Planned Parenthood should use comes from the Program Evaluation Grid Guide, which is a Planning and Assessment Tool for Nonprofit Organizations. The program categories this organization should evaluate on is 1) program values, 2) effectiveness and quality of the programs, 3) financial responsibility, 4) program's importance to all stakeholders or investors in the arrangement, and 5) program marketing. Also, Kluger (2006), suggests, “Non-profit organization are graded on 24 individual factors that are comprised of five fields. These five fields are: strategic values of a program, the effectiveness/quality, financial value of a program, a program's importance to key stakeholders, and marketing” (p. 33). These five metrics according to him are crucial to helping key-decision makers in an organization determine budgeting, program reduction or elimination, determine an organization's strength and challenges of programs, and agency-wide…

Margaret Sanger, founder of Planned Parenthood, believed woman had the right to a safe place when it came to their rights on birth control and information regarding abortions. Sanger paved the way for many women to revolt and fight their rights which eventually led to the opening of Planned Parenthood. Some people believe defunding Planned Parenthood is the next approach we need to take on ending women’s rights for abortions. Although, planned parenthood does provide abortions that is only one of the many services they provide. Planned Parenthood provides STD screenings, treatments, HIV testing, Breast exams which test for cancer, prenatal care, abortions, and the prevention of unintended pregnancies such as different methods of birth control.…

According to People, Planned Parenthood had received around 20,000 donations in the name of Mike Pence, the Vice President, since the election. The reason behind many people donating, and in the name of the Vice President, is many don’t agree with his beliefs, and women care about having rights. Women and others caring about their bodies is nothing new as well, in the cases of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey it widely speaks that state or spouses can intervene their decision. People, most conservatives, believe that Planned Parenthood’s agenda is just abortions which has called for controversy, but it is more than just abortions. Planned Parenthood should be government funded because it empowers women to be able to choose what they believe is right for them and helps people receive services at a low cost.…

Planned Parenthood is not the correct place students should be going to for internships, I cannot fathom what they would “supposedly” be learning in a place that kills hundreds of thousands of babies each year. Although Planned Parenthood does offer abortions they also offer low income women support and health services; college students should not have to go to clinics like these to earn the credits they need to graduate. I think the article lacked responses from the students as well. They should have asked the students taking part in these internships to see if they wanted to be in them or not, instead of just having outsiders tell them they are in a “Christian university” and should not be taking part in internships that go against their beliefs. All in all, I do not think TCU should have offered the internship in the first place. They should know that they are held up to high standards and definitely should have known this is the response they were going to get from…

I was privileged enough to be able to interview a wonderful women that had spent a lot of time working and volunteering for Planned Parenthood. After she took an introduction to Reproductive Rights course, that worked closely with Planned Parenthood, she began to volunteer at the call center. This is when a lady approached her and asked if she would like to work full-time with Planned Parenthood. Over the next three years, she would transition from working with counseling patients, different education programs, and helping with abortion services and long-term birth control procedures. Interviewing her allowed me to gain a better understanding of the personal aspects of working with Planned Parenthood.…

I agree with you, I am also against abortions. Yet I think that clinics such as Planned Parenthood are always labeled as abortion clinics when in reality they also help with many other reproductive issues. I have heard horrible stories about Planned Parenthood but at the same time I know of many people that got help from them in getting regular check ups and such things that could potentially save their life. I wouldn't exactly consider working for Planned Parenthood but in some ways I am not completely against it.…

It didn’t occur to me that these people were here to oppose Planned Parenthood, not for what they stood for, but because they decided to give women the choice over their own bodies. Less than a year before, I joined planned parenthood in a youth program to teach comprehensive sexual education in my surrounding area. This included things from anatomy, to contraception, all the way to the dynamics of a healthy relationship. This had opened my eyes to all the good that Planned Parenthood does, and is what brought me to volunteer. All of the thoughts of all of the good that Planned Parenthood does filled my head as I opened the door to greet the first terrified woman. She stepped out of her car, introduced herself, and we proceeded towards the clinic. Lucy, the first woman to enter the clinic, was five months pregnant and was there to hopefully find out the sex of her new child. Unfortunately, the people waiting outside the clinic didn’t know that. They were under the assumption that Lucy was at the clinic in order to abort her unborn child, and they were determined to convince her to change her mind. Between the shouts of the protesters I did my best to calm Lucy, to no avail. As we neared the door, I could feel the pure fear that surged through Lucy as the “peaceful” bystanders yelled things like “ Woman regret killing their baby ma’am, don’t…

From the time its conception, the United States has taken pride in existing as a country for the people. The actions of both federal and state governments should subsequently reflect the eclectic needs of an expanding and diverse populace. In order to provide the very basic necessities for its citizens, the government has a fundamental obligation to ensure access to quality and comprehensive healthcare services, including those focused on sexual and reproductive health. This is typically accomplished through delegation to smaller nonprofit organizations, most notably the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA). Though the beginning of a new presidency and reign of a majority-Republican Congress threatens to eradicate Planned Parenthood,…

Planned Parenthood has been in a negative spotlight for the past few weeks after the Center for Medical Progress released a slew of videos about the sale of aborted babies. Planned Parenthood was started as a non-profit organization to inform their clients on topics of reproductive and sexual heath, counseling for sexual abuse victims, and abortions to women who have become pregnant. Planned Parenthood describes their work as, “The majority is preventive, primary care, which helps prevent unintended pregnancies through contraception, reduce the spread of sexually transmitted infections through testing and treatment, and screen for cervical and other cancers.” (Planned). Planned Parenthood has been involved in the killing of millions of innocent…

When my mother was a young woman in Germany, barely starting college and just having turned twenty, she became pregnant with me, despite being on birth control. Not even two years later, she became pregnant with my brother, this time on a stronger birth control. By the mere age of twenty-two my mother had two children with no clue on how to care for them or for herself. She had agreed to moving to America with my step father years later, partially hoping that the health care she needed, and that I will eventually need, would be more readily available here, and at a reasonable price. Her hopes went unanswered until years later, when she stumbled across a page briefly explaining Planned Parenthood. Since then they have taken care of both me and…
