Ponyboy Should Be Putt Into The Foster System
Ponyboy should be put into the foster system. Many families don't have a safe relationship with each other. Unfortunately Ponyboy is apart of one of those families. His family has been through a tragedy losing his parents. Which means his parental figures are his two brothers who aren’t as responsible as they seem. They allow him to do many things that isn’t going to benefit him in the future. They are teaching him what they learned was okay and they are pretty young so they are probably not that educated in parenting. Since his parents passed away he has become closer to his gang. His gang is his family, his gang isn’t the best for him. He is the brightest out of all of them and he stands out. He has different hobbies such as studying and …show more content…
Ponyboy needs foster parents to help him get away from all his problems. he will have someone to talk to and someone who will actually protect him from getting hurt and prevent him from getting into gang rumbles. They will make him focus on school instead of focusing on beating up socs , smoking cigarettes and being worried about getting killed by a soc. He will have a safe environment everywhere instead of thinking he needs his friends to protect him. Being in a foster home he won’t have to worry about getting into a fight with a soc when he walks out the door. He will be in a safe space and won’t be as violent and pessimistic. Ponyboy doesn’t have parents in his life anymore because of the accident that had happened. Since he lost his parents nothing has been the same around his house. Everything has just went downhill since. If he gets put in a foster home he could get some closure. He could have parents who can support him financially and can make him go far in life, get him the career he wants in the future. He hasn’t had that parental figure around so it can fill that void he has. His brothers were a good parental figure in some aspects but they weren’t doing the best. They let him be in a gang and do drugs etc. Also if he is put in a foster home then Darry could maybe go to school and get a better job. Also he is working multiple jobs and he never has any time on his hands so he never had any time for Ponyboy. Pony’s life could change a great amount by being in a foster

Did you know if moved to an foster home, most children have to leave everyone and everything from the past behind them?I believe Ponyboy should go to the system, because of what he does on a daily basis, and what he’s exposed to at home. Ponyboy smokes a pack nearly everyday, which he is very likely to get/have cancer, liable to get jumped, and doesn’t attend school as much. Ponyboy should go to the system, because he’ll be safer, and have a better life. Ponyboy should stay with Darry and Soda, because their their his family, and he can’t get that same family love and affection as of a foster home. Ponyboy is better off going to the system, because he’s less likely to smoke, to stay out of fights, and most likely have a better education.…

This proves that Darry does not just provide an unsafe environment but also an unreliable home for Ponyboy, considering that he is abusing him in his own home and giving him the idea to run away, because he does not feel safe. Furthermore, Darry cannot handle Ponyboy thus leading to him being adequate to what he does. Lastly, Darry is not a responsible guardian and he is not the best guidance for Ponyboy.…

Another issue with taking Pony away is that the foster parents could be mean. If they are mean he may try to run away. If they are mean, they may abuse him. Abuse is worse than living with his brothers. Pony is old enough to decide whom he wants to live with. Would you want abusive parents? I think not. If his foster parents are abusive, it would just make the judge have to place him in a new foster home.…

Darrel (Darry) Curtis is 20 years of age and is legal guardian of his brothers, Ponyboy Curtis and Sodapop Curtis, due to his parents dying in a car wreck 8 months before the events in the book take place. ‘Darry is six feet two, and broad-shouldered and muscular. He has dark brown hair that kicks out in front and a slight cow lick in the back-just like Dad’s- but Darry’s eyes are his own.’ (Page 7) Darry never got the chance to go to College as the family couldn’t afford it and he doesn’t have enough time between looking after his brothers, and working two jobs. ‘But we just didn’t have the money for him to go to college, even with the athletic scholarship he won. And now he didn’t have time between jobs to even think about college.’ (Page 20) During this novel, we perceive Darry as being unpleasant & cold; ‘Darry isn’t ever sorry for anything he does. It seems funny to me that he should look exactly like my father and act exactly the opposite from him.’ (Page 7), But that is only the protagonists (Ponyboy’s) opinion of Darry. Later on in the novel, Pony realises that everything that Darry does, is for his family.…

He has been through so much lately that nothing can phase him anymore. Both the deaths of Johnny and Dally are negatively affecting his nature and how he acts. Pony is even willing to hurt another human being, which is a quality that he never shown before. When he is confronted by a group of Socials, he is not afraid to wield a broken bottle as a weapon. “I busted the end off my bottle and held on to the neck and tossed away my cigarette...they looked kind of surprised, and one of them backed up. ‘I mean it.’ I hopped off the car,” (171). A fight is not unusual to Pony anymore, and he stops caring about violence. He is deliberately riling up the Socials, and is looking for a fight with them. He also stops caring about being confronted while being alone, without a reliable source of protection. “...A car drove up and three Socs got out. I just sat there and looked at them and took another swallow of the Pepsi. I wasn’t scared. It was the oddest feeling in the world. I didn’t feel anything-scared, mad, or anything,” (170-171). Ponyboy does not run or shout for help, as he previously would have done. He takes the situation very differently than he would have in the beginning of the novel. His change in character is remarkable. As a result, Ponyboy is an intriguing character to see his mindset develop and…

I thought for a long time and finally decided to put Pony boy in foster care because of all the bad things in his past. Such as his brother slapping him. His brother is only eighteen years old taking care of a fourteen year old.Not only taking care of a fourteen year old but also his brother soda pop. So Darry has a huge responsibility that he can not seem to control. He even leaves his under aged brother at home alone with no super vision. So his brother is slapped and not watched and probably feels alone since he is not even able to leave his home. When he is home he criticizes him calling him names like dumb or saying things like ¨You do not use your head. Those kinds of things can hurt a fourteen year old, emotionally.…

From analyzing the different characters in the book, you can tell that their innocence fades in due time due to their on-going feud and hate towards the opposite gang. Although it’s not too late for Ponyboy to change how he is and return to his “golden” state, he has done and seen too much to be innocent and act like nothing has happened. In the future, I strongly believe that Ponyboy will be successful and has a great life ahead of him; this is because towards the end of the novel he puts everything aside and begins to work harder in school to achieve higher grades and impress his older brother,…
