Teaching assistants are there to support the teachers, pupils, school and curriculum. Teaching Assistants work in a partnership with the teacher to prepare and maintain the learning environment. They assist teachers in evaluating and monitoring a pupilâ€TMs progress and giving feedback on behaviour and learning. Teaching assistants support the school by knowing and following policies and procedures and working as a team with colleagues and parents. They also support the curriculum by following National curriculum documents, planning processes and following the sequence of expected development. All four areas are interdependent on each other therefore the teaching assistantâ€TMs role is to support the school as a whole however this support is always under the guidance of the classroom teacher they directly work with. There are High Level Teaching Assistants, who offer valuable support with teaching and learning activities, they are able to take a class if the teacher is not available.

There are administration staff that handle the mail, answer phone calls, register pupils for exams and pay the bills. Technical staff specialising in IT equipment or science equipment. Welfare staff that cover midday supervision or parent support advisors. Cleaners, cooks and caretakers all ensure smooth running of the school.
