There are many options available for post-16 year olds. These options include:
Attending a college
Staying at school, sixth form
Apprenticeships / work-based learning
Voluntary work
Paid / Self Employment
Higher education (for those with a qualification from college/sixth form mainly)
Adult and community learning.
The government are focusing on these options for post-16 year olds mainly because they are looking to increase the amount of people in education / training giving them a further range of opportunities. This means that regardless of your background you should be able to achieve your maximum potential in any career choice.
