Different countries have their own way of cooking, driving and most important, teaching. A child who is in a preschool in America, will not experience the same cultural activities as a child in China or Japan. The video Preschool in Three Cultures Revisited demonstrates how preschools in these three countries teach their students in accordance to their culture. Working with four-year-olds requires knowledge of early childhood growth and development, as well as recognition of the diversity children present (e.g., racial, ethnic, cultural, economic, language, and social background differences). Although families and communities are most influential, high-quality early learning environments are associated with improved cognitive, social, and language skills. I believe that each child, infant, toddler and older, are each unique and has the potential to leave their own mark on the world. My philosophy would be to provide a stimulating atmosphere in which infants and toddlers can grow and mature in many areas including emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually while in a safe environment. This environment will not only be safe, it will allow children’s curiosity to direct their learning, promote respect for things and people, and help the teacher guide the children.…

In order for one to gain an understanding of an early childhood environment, one must put them inside one. A Child's World is located at 2001 South Easton Road, Doylestown, PA 18901. The goal of an early childhood program is to prepare children from birth to five for kindergarten. According to the U.S. Department of Education, “The years before a child reaches kindergarten are among the most critical in his or her life to influence learning (Prepare My Child for School, http://www.ed.gov/parents/earlychild/ready/resources.html)”. The Obama Administration under his Education Act has established an array of services to help daycare providers and early childhood centers to continue to achieve this goal. Although daycares are responsible for teaching children the knowledge they need to thrive, it is dually important to empower parents and guardians with information to reinforce their child’s learning. We also empower families by providing resources, websites and do trainings for parents.…

Early childhood education is not a new concept. It has been in existence since ancient Greek and Roman times and many of our own methods come from those foundations (Gordon & Brown. 4-5). Throughout the course of history, philosophers, researchers, and theorists have spent many years researching, observing, and teaching young children. They have passed down to us many of the practices and theories that are being used even today in many early childhood classrooms and daycare centers. In the late 1800’s there arose a theorist by the name of Maria Montessori whose play learning theories and methods are still being used today in early childhood classrooms in many countries around the world.…
