II. Presenting Problem/Chief Complaint
Client was referred by mother and Head-start home visitor due to his behavioral problems. Mother is concerned about client and is looking for help to decrease client’s behavior. Clients presenting symptoms include: Defiant behavior, not following directions, throwing temper tantrums when not getting his way (hitting, aggressively throwing toys, pulling other people’s hair) Randomly screaming when not getting attention, repetitive movement (spinning and rocking on couch) running with no self-control or consequences, accident proneness and is easily …show more content…
Presenting problems happen usually 2x-3x per day and last about 5-7 minutes or until clients demands are met. Clients mother believes that client might be learning behaviors from other students in the early intervention program he currently participates in which they serve children on the spectrum and with an ADHD diagnosis. Clients mother attempts to regulate client’s behavior by removing the toys he is throwing and by telling him to stop in a firm and assertive tone. Mom reported that most of the time it works, however it depends on the client’s level of anger and frustration. Client gets easily frustrated when he cannot perform tasks and easily gives up and throws the item he is playing with (i.e., books, puzzles, toys). Client has proper self-care capabilities.
