In health care setting every individuals has their own rights to be treated fairly. The rights are based upon on the principles of care value base, such as: promoting anti-discriminatory practice, maintaining confidentiality, promoting and supporting individuals rights to dignity, needs (which is included physical, emotional, environmental, social, cultural, mental health, spiritual etc) choices, preferences, independence and safety, equality, diversity and human rights, acknowledging an individual’s personal beliefs and identity, protecting individuals from abuse, promoting effective communication and relationships and providing individualized patient care. …show more content…
This entails frontline workers providing good quality care/support help to support the relationship between carer and service user and building relationships with family members as well as the service user. Working with families can be challenging and difficult for frontline workers and listening to both can raise contradictory views on care/support.
To explain this in simple terms – we are all individual, no two people are the same hence it is not appropriate to say that because two people have dementia – that they both have the same care and support needs –as a care worker approach ensures a comprehensive understanding on individual need and the development of appropriate individual care plans for every resident for whom we are privileged to care for.
