1)Making abortion illegal doesn't stop abortion, it just makes it less safe. The number of women getting abortions doesn't change, the thing that changes is that women die from having unsafe abortions. 78,000 women die every year from having unsafe abortions.
2) Religious ideaology is no foundation for any laws. We do not have laws prohibiting the eating of pork nor do we have laws against pre-martial sex. Laws should be based off of logical reasoning from the point of general and secular beliefs, not the beliefs of one specific religion or group. Our country was founded under these principles of freedom from religious fundamentalism.
3)Most people who are against abortion will never become pregnant and have absolutley no first hand experience in the burdens of pregnancy. The majority of pro-life supporters are men.(according to gallup-poll) These pro-life people can't fully understand what it would be like to be forced to carry an unwanted child or to be forced to become a single parent.
4)Women who are raped or victims of incest should not be forced to carry out a pregnancy. This goes with my third argument, in that the pro-life men don't consider what a rape victim might feel. Imagine going through the horrible experience of a rape and then being forced to keep the child because a group of more oppressive men won't let the woman have her freedom.
5)Women shouldn't allow themselves to be told what to do by men anymore. Pro-life laws are just another lingering effect of the sexist days where men can madate everything a woman is allowed to do.
6) Many "pro-life" choices are far worse for the child than abortion. Babies born addicted to drugs, such as cocaine or pain killers. Babies born in poverty. Babies who are born with a terminal illness.
Questions I need to address:
1)Adoption is the "better alternative". Many orphans grow up with mental instability (according to ehow.com) Further, many of the pro-life supporters never apply for adoption.
2)The women should take responsibility for their actions. Once again hypocritical because the pro-life party is advocating that people should never be allowed to make mistakes. This argument also ignores all the women who had pregnancy forced upon them.
3)It's not up to the government to determine when life begins. This is hypocritical because these same people are arguing that it is up to the government to determine a woman's right to abortion.
4) The one-time choice of abortion robs someone else of a lifetime of choices and prevents him from ever exercising his rights. But is it the child's choice to be born addicted to drugs or born in poverty. Or what about a child who is born with a terminal illness? They're going to die painfully anyway so there wasn't really a choice to begin with.

Argument 1: Pro-abortion liberals are wrong to make ‘choice’ the ultimate issue. No one has absolute freedom of choice sanctioned by law. One can choose to rob a bank, or to kill their one-year-old child, but it is not legal. Why should a woman have the legal right to take the life of her unborn child?…

The pro-life view is characterized by “all men are created equal.” My personal view is that equal rights should be available to everyone regardless of sex, race, preference, age, etc. Throughout history there have been many conflicts of significance to women and blacks concerning the fight for equal rights; pro-life supporters say “why not babies too?” They also believe “there are no sub-humans.” Personally, I agree that there are no sub-humans. There are humans and not humans. I do not believe fetuses in a vegetative state, similar to a piece of tissue, are not humans because they are not conscious. Just because something has the potential of becoming a human in the future does not make it a human now (Planned Parenthood).…

Pro-abortion people supports the young lady that is fifteen years of age who lost her virginity and got pregnant just because she was not completely mindful of the results of her acts. The decision of her keeping the kid in most cases would bring about her getting kicked out of her home. There’s an abundance of people who would give anything in the world just to be able to have a family of their own, and to create offspring. Several people within society depend on adoption to make their dreams of being parents come true. Abortion cost a great sum of money while adoption does not cost you anything. When you compare adoption or abortion the pro’s for adoption are immensely clear. When you adopt, your pregnancy ends with life and you feel better about your decision versus abortion where your pregnancy will end with death and you will probably regret for a long span of time. Also, with adoption you remember giving birth, and get to see your child and hold it, while with abortion you will remember taking a life and never experiencing interaction with your child. Numerous people base their decisions for the future of their child off of first instincts and emotions instead of giving themselves time to consider what is best for the child and it’s future. Typically whenever people make decisions without thinking they will regret them for the rest of their life. No one wants to wake up every morning regretting their decision to abort every single day and their past actions to affect their everyday lifestyles. Abortion limits the child’s ability to succeed in…

To start, pro-life advocates base their arguments off many factors, one being that babies are viable lives and have rights from the time of conception. As discussed earlier, the embryo, which is an organism in the earliest development stage, contains DNA in its chromosomes when it is concepted. By the fifth week of pregnancy, the embryo is rapidly growing and has now started to develop major organs, such as the heart and brain (Mayo Clinic Staff, par. 11). According to Baby Med, viability of pregnancy is based on the presence of a fetal heart beat, normally rising hCG levels, and the fact that the fetus is alive inside the womb. Baby Med also states that, typically, a hospital considers the 24th week of pregnancy to be the age of viability outside of the womb, though it is known for babies born younger than that to survive (“What Does …”, pars. 2-3). Despite the time mark that a baby can survive outside the womb, all unborn lives should be considered “viable” because as they age, the better chance they have at surviving outside the womb. Most unborn babies develop normally and will eventually develop into a healthy, viable child. Another key argument for the side of pro-life is the availability of alternative options for mothers pregnant with children they do not wish to raise. Adoption is a leading alternative for abortion. Adoption is a great option for mothers who do not want to raise their…

Most of these supporters though are Christians or solid follewers of God who believe that abortion is considered murder, which would in fact make it a sin. Though there is no quote taken directly from the Bible stating that abortion, or the termination of a birth, is a sin, the Bible does state that murder of a person is a sin, and an unborn is a person. Several of the pro-choice debaters who use religious word to accomidate their debate use these laws from the Bible to illustrate how abortion is injust and a sin in the eyes of…

Abortion should be illegal because in our country, The United States of America one human is not allowed to harm or take the life of another without consequences, Abortion is no different. Then there are those who believe women should have the right to abort or carry a child to term are Pro-Choice. They believe the mother has the right to choose if the fetus is a living being according to the circumstances in her life. I feel that if a female is sexually active, at this point in her life she should know the potential end result of not protecting herself. Too many women become pregnant and choose to have abortions based on how the child may impact their lives. The fear of facing financial problems, having to deal with relationship issues or just not wanting to be a single mother has been a few of the reasons given for making this choice. I feel these reasons are wrong, as I stated earlier, from my perspective abortion is like murder. We are killing innocent children who do not get a chance to experience life, based on someone else’s choice. Women who engage in unprotected sex knowing they may become pregnant and decide abortion is the answer are not accepting the responsibility of their actions. By having an abortion, we are denying the mother the opportunity to raise the baby and usually this ends up hurting her emotionally at some point in her life.…

I believe the main people against abortion are the ones who are not physically capable of having a child. Humans all around the world would do anything to have a baby. When you can carry a child and then turn to adoption, why would you not? In our society today, people judge, talk, and point out facts, but that will never change. People try to escape the reality of having a child, and that is why they turn to aborting the fetus. Abortion has never fully developed in my mind. It is difficult for me to even view why someone would want to abort a child, but I have never been in that position so it is hard to judge. I say I know I would never abort a child, but do I really know. Everyone worries about how people will look at them. If a young woman was sexually active and became pregnant how many people would she catch staring at her, giving her weird looks, pointing at her, and much more? I do believe that is a big reason why abortion takes place.…

Abortion has been a heavily debated political, ethical, and moral dispute continuing for more than a decade after it was legalized in the United States in January 22, 1973. This decade long debate between “pro-life” activists and “pro-choice” activists usually stem from ones ethical and moral values of whether it is right to surgically or medicinally terminate a fetus and the extremes, like death of the mother, which could occur from the pregnancy. In this debate, I would view myself as a “pro-choice” activist because I firmly believe that abortion should continue to be legal to decrease the number of unintended mothers, broken or single parent families, and family poverty.…

First and foremost, abortion allows a woman the right to her own body. Some say that abortion should not be used as a form of contraception, but birth control fails daily. According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 6% of all birth controls fail each year. Women on birth control tend to disregard the chance of getting pregnant since the percentage is so low, therefore, the only protection they choose to utilize is the birth control. Women should remain to have the option to abort an undesired fetus. Along with contraception issues, there are other factors to reason with to keep abortion legal.…
