The second test was the Thematic Apperception Test. The Thematic Apperception Test was that he had to make up stories about the pictures but he said he didn't want to because that's lying. He made the women that was testing him very mad so he thought he failed this test too. The last test was the maze. He meets Algernon the mouse there and he had to try to beat Algernon in the maze. But of course, Algernon beat Charlie all ten times. Charlie said, “I didn't feel bad because I watched Algernon and I learned how to finish the maze even if it takes me a long time”. The women got very angry with him when she told him that both the Rorschach test and this one was to get personality. He laughed and said how can you get that thing from cards that somebody spilled ink on and photos of people you don't even know. Then she took the pictures away and made him draw some instead. After the operation, Charlie states that the surgery did not hurt. He is taken through more tests after the surgery and he is still unable to beat Algernon in the maze test. The pictures and inkblots still don’t make any sense to him. Charlie is frustrated with himself because he feels responsible for not being able to learn faster. After some time, the operation takes effect, and Charlie gets to beat Algernon. His journey towards getting smart begins and he gets really excited. When did Charlie begin to see results after the surgery? What were the results?
