Project Succeed Program Analysis
When I reflect on the years that I have been at Covington High one of the projects that I have been a part of that has really made a difference in the culture of the school is the Project Succeed Program. I have been a Math tutor and a STEM teacher in the program for the past 2 years and during that time I have seen students who are truly dedicated to the program. In addition, students who are in the program who do not participate in extracurricular activities feel a sense of belonging and are able to participate in activities such as dance, art, mentoring, STEM activities, tutoring, and Zumba.

In a world that is becoming more complex, there is a high priority for students to become proficient in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering,

Some of my Algebra 2 students decided to participate in the program and they enjoyed the STEM activities. The students mentioned how fun and challenging the activities were. What was amazing to me is my low-performing students did better than some of my high performing students, which serves as evidence how imperative it is for teachers to ensure that their lesson plans are engaging and in addition, diverse learning styles are considered when lesson plans are created.

The Project Succeed program is still active at Covington High School and is growing every year. I have had the opportunity to work with wonderful teachers and students in the program, as well as program directors and coordinators. The program has made a difference in the lives of students here at Covington High School and has put smiles on many faces. When I have done everything in my power as a teacher to strengthen students in a way that brings value to them academically, I can sleep at night knowing that I have made a difference in their

Being involved with Project 18 has impacted both the high school and the community throughout the last year. Project 18 also known as Political Action in which students volunteer for the community as well as candidates during the upcoming elections. I have volunteer to help numerous candidates in many ways such as door knockings and setting up signs. Our school annually has a THON that I have attended and been a part of to positively affect the high school as well as numerous foundations. When elections come around I have went around with fellow classmates to get people who are 18 or will be before the election to register to vote. Helping people register gets the communities numbers of voters up, in a time where numbers are down. Drugs are…

My involvement in Junior Optimist Club has sparked my passion for youth opportunities. When founding the club, the intentions of my peers and I were to create an organization lead by students that provided activities and opportunities for youth in the community. From reading to first graders to organizing popcorn fundraisers at the middle school, my service has not only given children a positive teen role model, but also forged a bond between these young minds and myself. My newfound interest…

In the summer of my sophomore year, I found the Moriches Bay Project by looking online at community service organizations, because I needed, a required, forty hours to graduate. My quest for finding the Moriches Bay Project started off as a graduation requirement, but quickly changed into something I enjoyed doing, and could possibly do for the rest of my life. Overall, this experience was very rewarding because we created nothing into something and as a result our project helped families who generally have lower incomes have the necessary school supplies for their children to be successful in school without forcing them to give up something else up. This project has opened my eyes to things happening around me and allowed me to become a more active and engaged community member while I was able to delve deeper into something that I'm interested and passionate…

Personally, I have been involved in my community since I was in the Boy Scouts of America. As I acsended through to the top rank of Boy Scouts known as an Eagle Scout, many projects were conducted. For example, I have planned and conducted my own Eagle Scout project in 2009; this project consisted of building a roof for my local firehouse. Other community service includes roadside clean-ups, annual earth day events, and fellow Eagle Scout projects. Since my community college career, I have been well involved with our campus and community. Particularly in Phi Theta Kappa, the national honor society of all community colleges, where I have become the President of our chapter. Within the society, the objectives include a honor's in action project…

As an executive officer in Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, each individual is responsible for a legacy project during the school year. I was responsible for SOS Children’s Village which is a foster care neighborhood that houses children that were abused, neglected and/or abandoned. Even though this was a one-day experience, I was thrilled about the opportunity to work with children as I believe that no child should be denied proper medical care and a healthy home. It is said that time goes by when you are having fun. This was true for our experience as we went four hours over time. I coordinated leadership and team building activities for the children in which both the volunteers and participants enjoyed. Who knew that in five hours’ strong bonds can be developed with a stranger that you might not encounter again.…

Being an active member of the Quincy Public School community for the past nine years has allowed me to give and gain much. Everyone benefits when members of the community partner with schools to provide quality education. In elementary school, parents wanted their children to get more exercise and spend more time outside. I benefited from Reebok’s partnership with my school to pilot an early morning exercise program. The Parent Teachers Organization wanted to build an outdoor learning space, but had no funds. I donated my birthday party to kick off the fundraiser which was supplemented with additional private donations and a community preservation grant. I was given an Outstanding Citizen award by the Nickerson Post for my role in engaging…
