violates many amendments in the constitution. So it is a priority to put in end to having the death penalty as a cert of punishment for offenders. Even though people who believe in the death penalty punishment have some valid reason for keeping it such as many criminals on death row have committed some of the most heinous crimes and mass murders were found guilty due to the amount of evidence against them and they should pay for their crimes to bring a peace of mind to the victims families. And by executing them is the only type of punishment they deserve for murdering other lives and destroying their families, as a way to uphold the law by paying an eye for an eye. And finally they believe it is the most cost efficient method there is since the injections cost less than one hundred dollars. This brings me to my first reason to abolish the death penalty, since it has been proven many times that the death penalty cost more than having them serve life in prison. In fact in Florida death row facility has claimed that it cost the tax payer around six times more per case, that rounds up to approximately three million dollars per execution according to Hugo Adam Bedau. I believe if were trying to bring justice to the victims in the most cost efficient way we should choose the better options that will save the taxpayers’ money especially that there are prisons where criminals have to work or due certain task in prison to bring the cost down. So we can clearly see that by enforcing the death penalty it cost people more money than having them serve life in prison. Their has been some cases where people have been found innocent while awaiting on death row or after they have been executed. More than four percent of inmates sentenced to death or one in every twenty-five prisoners according to Samuel Gross, a law professor at the University of Michigan Law School. This type of punishment doesn't only destroy the conscience of the victims family for executing the wrong person while the real criminal is still free but it also devastates the family who had to deal with the emotional toll of having someone in a death row facility for a long time or after they have lost a loved one. By enforcing this type of punishment it has proven that prisoners are under the clock to prove their innocence before they pay the ultimate price with no return if they are wrongfully executed. Continuing to enforce the death penalty isn’t only a toll on the families but it also make the criminal have to go through an unjust and unconstitutional by the way they have them executed.
Having criminals in death row violates many amendments in the constitution such as the eighth Amendment that forbids the cruel and unusual punishments. Since they have to get three lethal injections in front of a crowd of at least twelve people that might include victims and criminal family among a pointed people from the state. I believe criminals should pay for their crimes but in the most humane and legal way that doesn't violet any type of law. So if were trying to enforce the law for the crimes people have committed, we should also respect the laws in the way we sentence people to draw a line from right and wrong and that why the death penalty should be abolished In conclusion after knowing all that is wrong with the death penalty we should rethink of a better way to sentence people that doesn't make us the real criminals for allowing the death penalty to continue that is inhumane, a real cost burden to everybody and an unlawful practice. My suggestion is to completely forbid the death penalty and instead make them serve life in prison for the heinous crimes they committed. The world would be a better place if we all decided that the practice of lethal injection is a barbaric method to make people pay for their crimes and it should be outlawed in today modern
times.
