Owning Exotic Animals Can be Dangerous to Humans and Animals Have you ever wanted to own an exotic, or wild, animal? Many humans have chosen to try to own exotic animals. Those humans are taking a very high risk or hurting theirself, other humans, or the animal(s) they have. There are many reasons why owning exotic animals is a bad situation waiting to happen. A few of the reasons are that it is cruel to take the animals out of their natural habitat and into a space smaller than it would have been, no matter how long you have had the animal(s) they are still wild and will attack, and if your animal(s) were to get out the police would have almost no way to catch the animals other than to kill the animal. Owning an exotic animal that is naturally born into a place where it can roam with almost no limitations is very cruel. A lot of the time when people own exotic animals they keep them in very small cages, such as dog cages. Do you really think that
They are not meant to be kept as pets, they are too big and dangerous no matter how long you’ve had them. There are many cases where animals have attacked, or worse, even killed their owners, or other people. There have been 164 human injuries, and 21 human deaths from big cats to date( Nat Geo Wild ). After these deaths the animals are often killed. Another example of how exotic animals can be dangerous to humans is the story of Charla Nash and the chimpanzee. Charla’s friend had owned a chimpanzee, Travis, which she had called Charla over to help get back into it’s cage. When Charla arrived the chimpanzee turned on her and mauled her hands and face. Charla’s friend died before any lawsuits could be filed, but there was a $50 million dollar lawsuit in the works when she died.
