I believe humans should view animals in a different way than just being animals.
Animals are alike humans, They feel pain, suffer, and experience affection, excitement, and even love. For example, In the article, “ A change of Heart about animals” by Jeremy Rifkin. He states that “ Elephants will often stand next to their dead kin for days, occasionally touching their bodies with their trunks”. Elephants experience grief just like humans with their loved one's death. According to Rifkin, “ Studies have found that Pigs crave affection and are easily depressed if isolated or denied playtime with each other”. Just like Little kids feel sad if they can’t play with their friends. Animals should be treated with respect because they suffer too. Some humans are not conscious of the trauma that they can cause to an animal by abusing
them.
Even though there is a law against animals abuse. Humans still do it, they break the law all the time. The government doesn't have control over every single person who abuses animals. That’s another reason why there should be a bill of rights for animals. Humans feel powerful when they mistreat animals . They don’t see how cold-hearted they are. For example, chimpanzees locked in cages. Chimpanzees don’t deserve to be in scientific laboratory for research and be living in a cage. Instead they deserve to be living in a jungle with their families and be climbing up trees and eating bananas. Another example are pet owners hitting their dog, cats, etc. First of all, why would an owner owe a pet if they are gonna mistreat them and not giving them love. On the other side, a lot of humans also believe that animals should not have human rights because some animals cannot contribute to our society. They don’t have the ability to read, communicate, reasoning , etc. They just can’t be treated like humans when they can’t act like them. Animals are also used as a source of food for humans, without animals we wouldn’t have the protein that our body needs. In other words, Humans would not be able to survive without eating animals. There is also people called “Vegan”, those who don’t eat any time of animal products. However, not everyone is gonna become vegan, That’s just impossible for every single person to become vegan. Also, animal research has been essential to human cure in many ways. The research helps to discover the causes, cures, and treatment of diseases. In conclusion, I believe that animals should have a bill of rights created. Because they deserve to be treated alike a human since they have many human characteristics and experience emotions just like humans. I also believe that the government should realize the reasons of why animals are so important and deserve to be treated like a human.
