Cosmetics, scientific research, cleaning products, drug tests, and other research facilities have used animals as a way to evaluate their products or to discover possible scientific breakthroughs. Statistics show that more than 100 million animals die in the U.S. every year for experiments done by companies, the government, scientific facilities, or other institutions. Yet, the number is highly inaccurate since mice, rats, birds, and cold blooded animals are not believed to be animals by the Animal Welfare Act. The Animal Welfare Act is one of the only actions that are done to ensure that animals are protected from horrible lab conditions and painful experiments, yet they are barely reinforced. The previously mentioned animals make up more…

However, we should not put a national health care system into effect because our current health care system is in a corrupt state and has to be addressed before we can move forward.…

Jodie and Arthur Toms, parents of ten children, have seen first-hand the powerful impact animals can have on a young person. Their son has always loved being outside with animals so they decided to buy him an inside friend, Scooby, then all of a sudden he started to smile again, then they brought their sheep up onto the verandah so he could play with them, the odd chicken and duck. The more their son was able to play with his animals the more his cheeky smiles would return. Mrs. Toms stated, “The animals keep him calm... we started learning to sign the animals on the farm with him and he is now starting to use verbal language again” (Cassidy).…

Generally, PET can be produced in two steps by one of two ways, called the DMT and the TPA processes, or the transesterfication and direct esterification routes, respectively. Since its commercialization in the 1950’s by DuPont, PET was predominantly synthesized out of DMT due to the fact that this monomer, compared to TPA, was relatively easily purified by distillation. Yet, since the 1960’s, purified TPA became available by the development of new technologies and gained a lot of importance as a monomer in polyester synthesis (Matsuzawa, K., 1976). The applications for PET include fibres and filaments, films, and bottlegrade chips. Modem plants are based on the TPA process and further, they incorporate direct product formation (fibres and filaments, films) by extruding the melt from the final polycondensation reactor.…
