Psy 230 Week 2 Individual Assignment
I think of my work as experiential stories for myself and my intended audience. Whether narrative is shown through interactive forms, graphic design, or physical objects, storytelling is the significant factor of advertising that drives me to create diverse work. I strive to accomplish diversity in my work with the use of thorough research and my imagination.

To me, the challenge of speaking to a variety of audiences is the most rewarding aspect of any project. The first step in creating any of my works is to consider the audience's point of view. Gaining knowledge of the target audience and using my imagination to problem solve, I am able to place myself in other people's shoes every day. I explore how people would see, feel, hear, and interact with the project. Whether the target audience views the work within a magazine or physically holds the design in their hands, the use of my imagination and research aids in creating a conceptual story, regardless of how long the work is viewed.

I gain clarity in my works by visualizing the problems and objectives through a series of moving images or short films as a result of my imagination. Visualizing my objectives allows me to take a consumer's perspective and gain insight on how my work may be interpreted. The solutions I gain from my imagination will determine what medium I use to create the final product. Whether the medium used is a short motion graphic, photography, hand-drawn illustration, or the physical product itself, every aspect of a project is critically examined to enhance the experience. Thorough research is also reflected in how the graphic design such as colour, typography, and composition weave back to support the story being

It has been more than three years that I know this applicant. When I joined Kepler in 2014, this applicant was a student in the first year. During that academic year, I taught her communications and other skills that helped her to work well on her projects. Through her works and class participation, I could see that she was a hard work. She always met deadlines and make sure her works were of high quality. Another thing is that she was always looking for support whenever needed. In fact, whenever she found out that she missed something in class, she could attend office hours for clarification. In 2015, when she was hired as a course facilitator, she was very committed, determined and responsible. In fact, when she had to work on any task, she made sure to complete it on time and with efficiency. Till now, her actions show that she is collaborative. She really believes in team work. In fact, she knows that for a team to be…

Jason White’s lecture was all about his field (experiential design), and what his company (Leviathan) does. Experiential design is design that is focused on how people experience design across a space on a very interactive and large scale. He showed many projects that involved exhibition, environmental graphics, video-mapping, marketing, placemaking, video installations, holographic installation, immersive installation, virtual reality etc. He explained what these technologies were, and some of the pros and cons of them. Many different people work and collaborate in teams in the field of experiential design, and according to White, the process involves five aspects, and three main steps. The aspects were the message, the path (project timeline), the impact (how people react), the innovation, and the true meaning behind the message. The steps in White’s process include content creation, physical installation, and live documentation.…

Subjective well-being is based on an individual’s personal judgment of life satisfaction and emotional experience. In other words, subjective well-being or happiness reflects an individual’s perspective of his or her quality of life which relates to the absence of negative experiences as well as the attendance of negative experience. Someone who experiences more positive satisfaction and experiences in their life would have a high level of subjective well-being or be happier in life. When researchers measure this concept they are measuring what people think and feel about their lives. The three components of measuring subjective well-being in an individual are life satisfaction, positive experiences and affect, as well as negative experiences and affect. “Life satisfaction is a cognitive judgment concerning how a person is with his or her life,” (Baumgardner & Crothers, 2009, p. 21). The emotional factors positive and negative experiences and affect relate to an individual’s opinion about his or her life. The positive experience and affect relate to how much enjoyable situations occur in an individual’s life and the satisfaction or joy they have because of those situations. While the negative experiences and affect relate to the how many non-enjoyable situations occur in an individual’s life and the lack of joy or sadness they have because of it. I would choose not to be hooked to a machine that would only give feelings of cheerfulness. Hedonic perspective defines happiness as complete pleasure with minimal sadness. Being hooked to that machine would cause hedonic happiness even if only hooked to the machine for a short amount of time. On the contrary, eudaimonic perspective is when satisfactory life results from living in accordance your true self (Baumgardner & Crothers, 2009). If an individual was completely happy all of the time then if that individual ever had a…

This article was full of information in the transition to adulthood. It begins with a history of becoming an adult. This article takes you through comparisons of the statistics from the past to now. This article gives you an idea on the difference between race and ethnic backgrounds. It also provides support for its findings. What I found interesting in this article is that back in the day, which young people viewed adulthood as a requirement at an early age. Nowadays young people are taking a lot longer to transition to adulthood, they are completing college and finding careers, I think is a great thing. Children need to focus on their education and the opposite sex. I think it is important for young men and women to have a plan of action about where their life is headed. I think today we are more thinkers then doers, I think we are looking into the long-term affect more now. This also gave me statics on when the kids become independent, the past versus present, male, female, and race. I choose this article because I have a step son in the military; this article gave me ideas on how fast they are required to step into adulthood. It was interesting to discover the difference between the age groups, races and what programs they are involved in. If I had to write a research paper this would be the article I would use. This is an interesting topic that I think I could take further. After reviewing this article I feel this is a creditable source, it has supporting facts and documentation to back up its findings, reads well the flow is right. This was definitely a very informative piece of work and you can tell the author spent their time and effort on this as well.…

Many artists enjoy exploring new ideas and concepts and creating them. Most artists think of themselves in one or more of the roles when approaching their art work. First, artists believe they are helping people to see the world in new and innovative ways. Secondly, they believe they are making a visual record of places, people, and events of their time and place (Sayre, 2009). Third, they are making functional objects and buildings more pleasurable and giving them meaning, and finally, artists believe they are giving form to immaterial ideas and things (Sayre, 2009).…

My ideas comes from everywhere unexpectedly, especially when I’m browsing at professional websites art blogs or famous social network (such as Tumblr and Instagram). Every day, there are all kinds of artists who would like others to know about their creative works. Therefore they share it online, and in fact, they obviously gets my attentions. Another point in its favor is the one things I love about art is that I can receive other people’s personal viewpoints and then change it bit by bit to create my own piece of art-styles. In particular, I choose for myself the theme of emotional expression, as I wish to present how strong feelings can impact viewers throughout the design process.…

In today’s society, images play a large role in defining who we are, in communicating ideas, and in shaping what we think. For instance, controversy surrounded the President using images of the World Trade Center tragedy for purported political gain. The advertisement for drinking more milk (“Got Milk?”) is a popular image, while MTV moved young people toward small visual sound bites. Think about what type of images “speak” to you. Think about what certain images say. Think about how they are designed to elicit a response or draw attention to them (design features).…

The opportunity to majoring in the field of digital art sets the foundation for people such as myself who wish to contribute educationally, creatively, and globally in expanding the field of graphic design. Being fortunate enough to have been given a place in the American educational system, which gradually led to my interest and pursuit of graphic design, I am able to see potential in young students such as Mariam. Students who, when given the proper educational opportunities in the field of design can grow to contribute their own ideas and creative talents in the future. In conclusion, I saw myself in Mariam, a young girl with creative ideas and aspirations that seemed to overflow from her developing mindset. A young girl who went from drawing in mud to creating animations and characters on the computer. So while I hope to educate myself on numerous topics ranging from game design, to 3D animation during the course of this program, it is being able to take this knowledge and educate those around the world who share the same passion and ambition that ultimately makes the acceptance of this program fall on a personal…
